most of the largest corporations don't get taxed or get taxed well under what the average corporation gets taxed.
G.E. made 14.2 Billion last year, paid 0 taxes, and got a 3.2 billion tax refund
Microsoft made 6.32 Billion last year, paid $445 million in taxes (7%) and this is up from the early 00's when Microsoft paid 0 taxes.
Apple on average paid around 15%
these are all well under the 35% a lot of corporations pay.
Now what do they do with the tax breaks and tax refunds? Start factories overseas and out source jobs. GE received money in 2009 AND from the stimulus package to help kick start job growth and instead of hiring some of the 16k employees they laid off in 2009, they shipped jobs over seas.Last edited by himynameisjohn; 10-29-2011 at 08:29 AM.

completely arbitrary numbers that the video shows otherwise. he found like a handful of people who are socialist or w/e, as opposed to the dozens of people FOR capitalism, yet for the sake of your anti-liberal argument that somehow makes 25% this, 25% that. who gives a **** what the socialists there want? they are the minority, as has been stated in multiple videos by people there. the general message is to get money out of politics. the specifics are out there.
i've never been to starbucks, don't own any apple products, and i am pro capitalism. you have absolutely no argument other than complaining about liberals, and you look like a scattered, confused moron when you encounter someone who disagrees with you and isn't a liberal. if anything, i'm libertarian leaning and agree with schiff. all you can do is complain about liberals, you have no real arguments, ever.

Why does every chachmaster on this ****ing forum think they are a part of the 1%? These 99%er's represent every single person on this board. Please link me to a single person on this board who is a billionaire with significant control of the government.
Didn't think so.
EDIT: Also, the increase on taxing the rich would affect none of you broke ass mother****ers anyways. Again, please link me to a member who is actually making +$10,000,000 a year. That's who they want taxed. These are the people who do not pay taxes by using loopholes. Not some dude who is making $500,000 a year. The ultra ****ing rich, not the rich dad down the ****ing block.

I'm LOL'ing so hard at all these kids who now support the OWS, and speak about "chops" and the interviewer finding "the dumbest person there".
The same kids who trashed the tea party for the same reasons people are trashing the OWS now.
What? I guess the OWS is legit because your professor and your peers are in it, and it's hip. I can't take your types seriously.

Corporations can deduct payroll and losses. Are you for or against this? If you do not want corporations to do this, why should they hire more people?
Companies outsource jobs because prices go up due to government regulations.
I'm sure if you had the choice of hiring person A, who cost 100/hour, and person B, who costs 5/hour, you would pick person A, right???

People are dellusional on this board I tell you. Everyone thinks they are going to graduate and start making 100k and be making 300k by the time they are 35 and driving a Ferrari.
The other portion think that OWS is full of liberal "hippies" which is flat out stupid and a generalization. What if I said that the misc. is full of a bunch of steroid using dumb asses? Same type of generalization. The point of OWS is to stop corporate greed, stop lobbyists from taking advantage of the tax system that is in place and pay their fair share.
If everyday working americans can pay income tax, sales tax etc. why can't corporations pay their tax? We as people don't go into the store and negotiate the sales tax on a can of soda. We pay the 8.25 (in CA for me) and walk out. Corporations are walking into that same store, buying a can of soda, paying 0 taxes AND getting a small refund.

lol go away troll. age 21 you probably just got out of poly sci 101 and are straightening your fedora.
of course they are arbitrary numbers - it was an example of the confusion, misdirection, and chaos that is this OWS thing.
do some research and watch the video before you head to your next poli sci class.

i love how your arguments completely revolve around liberal stereotypes. it's funny to watch you scramble to try to make some sort of real argument. I'M NOT A LIBERAL, lmao. i can't take someone who just makes post after post complaining about liberals all day yet have NOTHING to say with substance. you are such a partisan hack.

except thats not whats happening...first off its 14 billion PURE PROFIT. GE has ex- IRS officials, ex- treasury members that work in their financial department and SOME who even work in the government AND in their financial department at the same time. They deliberately write in loopholes to allow GE to pay less taxes and in return get paid very handsomely.
Also you are telling me a company that makes 14 billion can not open a factory in the United States? Cannot hire people? When you are making 14 billion in pure profit what kind of regulations stop you from hiring Americans?

If you guys spent time reading news that isn't the MSM you'd find out the main reason for the protest is the circle jerk that is the corporations and the government.
If you actually went down to any of the Occupy protests, the majority of the people are talking about reinstating the Glass-Steagall Act.

i already said i'm libertarian leaning. you are also the same type of moron who complains about liberals all day without any real argument, as seen in that other thread, where you started randomly throwing about liberal and democrat accusations when you couldn't actually make any good points. how is it deflecting when it's literally the only thing he says?

"General Electric Co. (GE)’s tax rate will rise this year and beyond after $32 billion of losses absorbed by the company’s financial-services business pushed down rates in 2008 and 2009, Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Immelt said. "

Obviously picked particularly stupid interviewees but what did you expect to happen? Maybe 1 in 100 protesters are actually knowledgeable about economics/politics. Everyone else is just disgruntled (rightfully so) but they have no solution or target for their outrage.

How much of 14.2 billion does a CEO and shareholders need? Also they didn't only NOT open a factory, they shipped jobs overseas. Why would you need to lay off 16k employees, and ship jobs overseas when you make that much money? Because its greed, power, and profit. I'm not saying GE needs to give away money or w/e but they are avoiding the 35% tax rate and on top of that outsourcing jobs just to get an even bigger profit. At what point does profit not matter anymore?

Hmm, maybe it has to do with the philosophy that I'm seeing coming out of the OWS.
Lol, in that thread you went back 2 decades for a video that involved the current speaker of the house. You either cherry picked because you have liberal leanings and you want to focus on a republican, or it was a coincidence. Judging by how mad you still are about that, it wasn't a coincidence

I completely agree that the 99% be so far off from the 1%, but this fuking guy has made more valid points than any of the imbeciles arguing with him, AND he did so in a mature manner. Most of the people arguing with him just hate him for having money or want their stupid faces on camera for attention, so they pull anything out of thin air. This is terrible publicity for the 99%. They actually look like they deserve to be poor in this video when you compare the intelligence of both parties.
