    Cheap high calorie foods..

Hey guys, I'm currently doing a winter bulk (October through Feb), my current maintenance is 2500 calories so I'm eating 3000. As a student my budget is tight so 3000cals a day is a push until I can get a part time job, are there any cheap calorie dense foods you'd recommend to get the extra 1000 calories in?

I've been bulking since the start of October and picked a few things to boost calorie intake up whilst they are on offer at the supermarket...Nutella, Pop Tarts...but these things are expensive when not on offer (at least in England).

    Thanks for any recommendations...

Also, if you go to Whole Foods or Sprouts they have bulk bins of nuts, dried fruits, etc. All pretty calorie dense and cheap.

I remember seeing a post by .aenterna(spelling?) in the religion/poltics section where he said he spent an average of 7$ a day on food. When he broke it down it made sense, his diet was mainly bulk chicken, oats, peanut butter, whey, and eggs.

this guy is right, when on a bulk i eat a **** load of canned oil tuna, mayo, celery, onions, pickles, hardboiled eggs ...also like someone mentioned above, add olive oil to everything. even your shakes. my bulk breakfast shake, 1 cup milk, 2 TBSPs of peanut butter, 1/2 cup of oats, whey, oilve oil, toss in a banana or anything else you can fit and blend...i'd drink this with a peice of toast with PB on it. mayo is also a good way to get fats as well.

Also, dont know if they have an Aldi's in your area, but some cheap quality food, you can spend 60 bucks and have plenty of food for 2 weeks

A Pop Tart and Protein Shake with a Spoonful of Nutella mixed in post-workout seems fine to me, it's only for about 500 calories of the 3000, most of my meals are from 'wholesome' foods like Chicken, Pasta, Rice, Vegetables, Milk and such, they were just two examples.

I already eat lots of Oats and switched Tuna in Brine to Tuna w/ Sunflower oil but will look into nuts, I reckon I could get a bag of Peanuts for cheap, will certainly look next time I shop.

Look for an ethnic section or store. For example, at a Pathmark near me there are sardines in different sauces for just under $2. In the ethnic section you find the same amount of sardine, with a crappy label, in a crappy tomato sauce/paste only, but its only $.69. And on sale i used to get them for $.59 lol.

Oats, peanut butter, pasta, potatoes, butter.

ALways look for the sale, but stay away from things like pop tarts, guarantee you will find much cheaper calories. Nothing that is served in its own plastic is cheap.
Remember there are always cheaper options than what you just bought, and if you keep the foods clean (not pop tarts) the food will be better.
Tomato sauce as opposed to a can of tomatoes. The cardboard tube instead of ready to eat instant packets. Fresh veggies or the frozen brick. Even dried beans (which you have to soak and can boil if you like) in place of canned. Dried beans can be sprouted, and are not packaged with any preservatives.

The best thing is, those already cheap items are usually always on sale somewhere. Pasta, beans, and oatmeal are ALWAYS on sale at a store, just look through the circulars

hey man whatever floats your boat and fits in your macros is great lots of people get away with it i would just personally prefer eating 300 calories worth of bread, oats or peanut butter as opposed to pop tarts lol but to each their own =)
