Help me with a kid im working with.

Let me begin by saying im not a personal trainer or anything, im just a 16 year old kid that enjoys being fit. Recently I was approached by my aunt and ask to help her nephew on the other side of my family to lose weigght. I told her that I needed time to think about it, but I have no clue where to start with the kid. He is 15, about 5'4 and wears a size 38' pant, you do the math.
He has struggled with weight his whole life and, with myself coming from the same situation early in my life and changing the way I did, he really looks up to me. I really like the kid, and I want to help; because its not right for someone to be picked on, and to have health problems like he does when they are so young. I am happy to be able to play a role in changing his life, but I need help.
I would appreciate any advice, workout plans, diet plan, anything. I will probably be present for all of his work outs, but where he is going to struggle is his diet. He is going to need something that is more appealing(I was thinking CKD, but I don't want him to go overboard on the carb load).
Thank you BB-community for giving your time.

Start him off with simply getting him to do cardio daily and have a decent caloric deficit from his BMR, i'd consider a deficit of around 1000 to drop weight fairly fast. Get him into the habit of eating clean - oats, brown rice, chicken etc. and let him have some fun with the IIFYM approach so he can still eat some of the stuff he likes.
