It's a DX cropped. I have used the 50mm before and loved it, but I really can't decide if I want to purchase that, or go with the 35mm. Which one is more versatile for a broad range of photo types?
Edit: my current gear is: Nikon D3000 w/ kit lens. and a Borrowed 50mm 1.8 manual focus lens.

You have a 50 now so how do you find it and do you find yourself wishing it was wider? I used to use my 50 on my old D90 crop (use a D700 ff now) and it was still a very versatile lens.
Me personally on a crop body I would probably have more use for a 35mm (which of coarse is actually pretty closee to 50mm on the crop body)..Raw Lifts (IPF) = Squat-440 Bench-264(paused) Dead-551

I've been working on this
Just need one more idea to finish it, I'm hoping for snow but it's not very likely and i'l re-do the night one next time there's stars, I was just experimenting and wanted to see how scary the woods were at night for if I wanted to go again.
Would sunrise/sunset get a totally different image?

Amazing pics Akappa. I love the one with the trees through the mist.
Here are some recent pics of mine taken with my leaky old Nikon Fe manual film camera. First time actually getting filmed developed. Will continue to play with film for sure!
And one from a recent bushwalk.
And a handheld panning attempt.
I'm just a beginner who likes to play so any advice is very welcome!Last edited by klaery; 02-09-2013 at 02:35 PM.

Two more prints from class I just turned in for critique. My apologies for the page stretching. Some dude in class accidentally opened the enlarger while he was focusing and let the rays of Jesus into the room, couple of folks, including me, got their paper exposed. Feelsbadman.

anybody know the latest on the gopro series of cameras?
im not sure which to grab. looking for something to really just stick on my car for basic video, nothing too serious. I was able to find this chart(below) showing the only differences that im aware of are 24fps(silver+black) + (protune mode+narrow FOV) seem to be the only real differences other then the still camera megapixels which i couldnt give two craps about. thoughts?

The resolution and film rates.
The Silver stops at 1080p/30 and , Whereas the Black goes on to do 720p/120, 1440p/48, 4k/15, 2.7k/30, and WVGA/240fps, etc. Basically, the Black will do higher resolutions and faster frame rates. If you wanted to do Slow-Motion for example, that 240fps capability comes into play.
Also, the Black Kit comes with a buncha other crap. For your purposes, the bog standard GoPro will do just fine.Last edited by EatingPancakes; 02-09-2013 at 04:26 PM.

Just made the switch after 7 months with the d3200.
Dat d700 time. Holy dedicated features and iso performance.
Found one used with 28k clicks for $1300.

Haha, the d700 is easily a professional-standard camera. And you will notice a difference in your photography upgrading to a pro-range body, everything will be much easier to navigate around and the ISO handling is 1,000,000x better so it will affect it

Even though it's around 5 years old, the D700 is still one of the best cameras ever made. Resolution and video aside, 5Dmk3 buyers forking out $3500 are excited about features D700 owners enjoyed for $1000 less in 2008. There is something special about the files it produces, a film-like quality, especially when converted to B&W, much like the original 5D. I've still got a pair of them from 2008 and they're going strong. 8fps on FF with a grip also makes it a solid choice for sports.
That being said, I think semi-pro is the best way to describe it even though many pros use them (and the D800) and it has several pro features. The D3/D3x/D4 body cameras (1D/1Ds equivalent on Canon) still have superior weather sealing and the shutters are rated to handle twice as many actuations.
