As a president who was immensely eager to bring troops home when first elected, don't you think there's a reason he went back on his promise to withdraw them all? When he came into office, he came into new information that obviously made him unable to deliver on his hope of complete withdrawal... I don't think he can be blamed for that until the information we've had during this war is declassified, similar to how were just recently learning more about the Cold War.

Of course we want the troops to come home. But the region must be stable or once we are gone it will just transform into a country of chaos or worse, Iran or Syria will come in and take it over. Every presidential candidate tells the people what they want to hear. Was Obama lying when he said he wanted to bring them home, no I don't think he was. But at the same time he had to know it was not likely yet he said it any ways because he was not lying and because that is what the voters wanted to hear. Now here we are at another election build up and all of a sudden the troops are coming home again. Truth or not the timing is very questionable.

He brought over 100k troops out of iraq by summer 2010. And like his plan said the last 39k will be withdrawn by the end of 2011, and that is exactly what he is doing.

You can't just withdraw 100k troops over night, it doesn't happen like that. And the president can't just stand around until they are all out and not do anything else.

Between 09 and now, over 100k troops have been withdrawn from Iraq.
