Cold Weather Gloves
Hey Guys,
So a couple friends and I have our own Gym setup in a pole barn here in Michigan.. the barn has no heating/cooling so as I'm sure you could guess, winter can be hell.
The past few years I've been using a less than optimal pair of gloves that you would normally use for shoveling snow or w/e. Last year I tried a low profile snowboarding glove but these broke down fairly fast. I was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations for a good pair of gloves that could be used for lifting, wouldn't break down very easily and could keep your hand relatively warm while protecting them from the deathly cold bar and dumbbells. I know its kind of alot to ask from one pair :/
Just trying to see whats out there if anyone else has had this similar quandary....
Thanks in advance!

I don't use them for lifting, but Fox Polarpaw gloves work well for winter mountain biking here in AZ. Might be worth a try for your situation.

I have used football gloves for this in the past. I usually get gloves from wide receivers. They are not bulky, have a ton of grip (in fact some are sticky) and are great to lift with. I have a gym set up in a garage in Michigan as well. I have not had to go through winter in it yet, so I am hoping it is not too bad.

hmm, thanks for the suggestions. I picked up a pair of addidas while I was out today, we'll see how they go.. I thought about checking out some batting or WR gloves, if these fail (kinda thinking they will) then ill check out that route..
Btw ND, that is one awesome setup you have there. Ours is not nearly as nice, lol. If you can handle the cold fine, its not that bad once you get yourself going.. The barn isn't really sealed up very well so alot of cold seeps in as well for us. The main problem is the extreme cold, chilling the bars and our dumbbells are iron so sometimes grabbing them without protection feels like fire haha.

Not very cold compared to MI. It'll sometimes be in the 40s when I ride in the winter. I hate it when it's that cold though. I enjoy summer riding more.
(In the past, I've sometimes put on a long sleeve shirt and a hat when the temperature dips below 80. Sounds nuts, but when you're accustomed to exercising in the 90s and 100s, temperatures in the 70s feel cold, especially in very dry air.)
With respect to the gloves that I mentioned, the temperature needs to be in the low 60s or below for those gloves to be comfortable. Otherwise, they're just too hot. I honestly do not know how those gloves would do in significantly colder conditions. I'm guessing that there won't be much wind chill in a pole shed, so they might be okay.
I remember a day that was probably in the mid 50s. I thought I had grabbed my Fox Polarpaw gloves out of the basket where I keep my gloves. I had actually grabbed one Polarpaw glove and one dark colored glove that I wear in the summer. The hand with the Polarpaw glove was nice and comfy. The other hand felt like it was freezing; my fingers on that hand got numb during the faster sections due to wind chill.

LOL.
It was 33 this morning. the high was around 50-55. I've been outside all day, absolutely perfect day to get out and do stuff. I started this morning in a sweatshirt and jacket (quilted flannel) with cheap cotton jersey gloves by afternoon I was down to a long sleeve T. I simply don't function when it gets much into the 90's.
