Frequent urination after ONE beer

So I'm not a big drinker.......after softball games I'll hang out with the guys afterwards and have one or two beers tops. During the game I'll usually sip on a small bottle of water and probably sweat more than that out during the game. After I drink my one beer, it's literally like a lightswtich is turned on in my body and I start peeing repeatedly to the point where I cannot sleep or really do much of anything for several hours afterwards. I finished my game at about 10pm here and I'm guessing I took about 12 full pees before I finally fell asleep around 12:30am. Then had to wake up twice more at night before waking up again at 8am completely dehydrated. I realize alcohol is a diuretic, but ONE beer is enough for me to piss literally 10-15 times in the span of two hours, not exagerrating.

Wondering if anyone else goes through this and if it could be attributed to having an extremely high metabolism or something beyond that? I really don't believe this is any sort of ailment since it's not something I go through on a normal day (that doesn't include one beer).

Yes, I know I don't have to drink one beer and I know that's the easy answer....to stop having a post-game beer.

I think you might get a better answer from your family doctor. And no personally I have never experienced this, not after a gallon of water or 20 beers.

I believe there is diff medical reasons such as enlarged prostate etc.. that could be pushing on your bladder.

I believe (based on significant experience) the enlarged prostate is your problem.
I'd seriously recommend seeing your doctor and he will do his thing and confirm any enlargement and/or rigidity of the prostate gland.

If I remember rightly, 1G of Alcohol increases urination by 10Ml. So based on 1 or 2 beers I doubt very much this is the cause of your excessive urination.

It happen to me sometime (bat not always) after I have (for me) a lot beers, like 5-6. But not regularly. It can have to do something with wetter conditions and sharp body temperature change. It can happen to me when I sit in cold room without enough clothes too. I guess it is normal.

But if you haven't had your prostate checked by a doctor in the last few years, it would be a good idea imho.

If you can't sleep after having one beer, try having 18 or so. Just be sure to put a big absorbent blanket under you.

Definitely seems excessive after only one, do what everyone said and run it by the doc.

I will def ask the doc at my next annual physical. I thought about it being an enlarged prostate, but again..........the pissing myself to death only occurs after drinking a beer or two. During every day life I believe I pee on normal/regular schedule. And when I looked up the symptoms such as "difficulty starting", "dripping", etc. I have none of those symptoms. It's almost like the beer triggers something in me that signals my body to start trying to rid itself of fluids. Weird.....

Alcohol found in wine, beer, and hard liquor, interferes neurologically with the function of the bladder by weakening the muscles that control urine flow, causing frequent urination. If continued, dehydration may occur creating more complications such as a urinary tract infection.

When I was young we used to call it Texas-Rhode Island. Your bladder was the size of Texas until you took the first whiz. Then is suddenly was the size of Rhode Island. But, that was nothing like what you're describing. I'd go see a doctor as it sounds like something to do with the kidneys. If it were prostate, it would happen all the time. The way you describe it, alcohol triggers it.

Me too. There was a period in my life when for each beer I pissed 10 times, kinda went away on its own altho I am still susceptible to frequent urination. I do get a PSA test once a year.

I get this way when I drink coke zero. Though I think it has something to do with the sweetener.

Any form of alcohol is a diuretic.
Your metabolism has nothing to do with it.
The fact that you don’t drink and then push in a diuretic throws off the normal balance in your system and your body is over compensating for the beer.
Does not matter if its hard liquor or beer, it’s the alcohol that starts the pulling of water out of your system.
This leads to you wanting to pee after drinking and also explains how alcohol leads to dehydration.

What beer were you drinking? I can't drink Rolling Rock, right after the 1st one... piss city. Been that way since I was age 19. If you really don't drink that much, possible that your body isn't used to it.

I'm 56 and if I have a few beers I'm fine, once I get to the 6-8 beer range, it comes out as fast as I pour it in. But 72 ounces in = 72 ounces out, eventually you hit a plateau with it.

Hi did you ever find an answer to your problem? I have the same thing going on. 2 trips to the bathroom per beer but only beer. Not wine or liquor...

Beer is loaded with sugar. Could be something to do with the sugar.
