Water! Whey is meant for fast absorption right? Why would you mix it with slow absorbing casein?

Unless I'm cutting, skim milk with every shake. Tastes substantially better and adds a few cal's to your daily intake.

depends on quality and type, some proteins such as myofusion/on taste good regardless and the lesser quality proteins taste better in milk, and like said above if yo're using a blend and bulking use milk, but when cutting (using isolate) then water would be better to use,

overall though the taste is superior with milk imo

If I'm at home I'll always use skim or 1% milk with my protein, it tastes far better and adds a bit more protein/calories if you need it. After the gym I'll mix it with water, as it's about a 25 minute drive from my gym back to my house.

I have Combat and took it tonight for the 1st time with water, I used about 2oz less than when I use soy milk. It wasn't as good, but it wasn't nearly as bad as a few of the others I've tried in water. I wouldn't mind if I had to use water again tomorrow, a bit thin but overall was still good. OP if you're having a hard time mixing it with milk even in a shaker try a different brand. I have Pro 5, Syntha-6 & Combat. All mix very well in my blender cup (with the ball in it) there's usually a small bit left on the side from all except the Pro 5. But the actual shake don't have lumps, and even though it was pretty decent with water, I much prefer milk. I was out of milk the other day so I used 2oz of water and 4oz of half & half, it was a ton of calories but was super creamy. If you're not counting calories or fat, 1-2oz of half & half on top of milk makes shakes out of this world tasting.

In the morning I actually use almond milk, unsweetened. Only 35 cal per 8oz. Probably not as rich as milk, but far better tasting than water.

Combat Powder in skim milk for me. It's not bad in water either, just prefer the extra little protein boost from the milk.

Plus it's chocolate milk flavored, which definitely prefers milk consistency.

Honestly, use half water and half milk man. Its still mixes easily and you get the taste benefits some milk in there. Milk is like 85% water anyway so... if you use just milk you are using water too. find that golden ratio or get some sh*t that mixes better

altho not my preferred route personally, chocolate milk is actually a very useful postWO drink for replenishment..

fyi - if you add a lil milk to your postWO whey, you will not drastically alter your "digestion rate" of the protein, no.

try not to get too hung up on specific protein powder use during your postWO replenishment endeavors.
the cortisol you produce from stressing over this decision will likely do more harm than the potentially slight good that will result from picking the "right" protein product to use.

I was wondering the same thing too.

My guess is that the sugars in milk are fast digesting and help shuttle in the Whey. It's the protein from milk which is slower digesting, but since you have Whey as the primary protein source it should be OK.

What about those who say just have chocolate milk for a post workout drink. In that case, isn't the protein slower to digest?

Can someone explain? I'd really like to better understand this.

    Thanks.

    Timing. Doesn't. Matter.

Fast digestion, high-gi carbs; blahblah. Just hit your daily macros per day.

dont you want fast digesting protein after your workout?

    what the problem is?
The problem is actually a non-problem. I know that is not a valid statement per philosophy but hear me out.
Flooding your body with tons of fast acting proteins does not mean you are going to get swole. A good exercise routine, plus decent diet of hitting macros, plus enough rest equals swoliosis.

Snag, was going to converse with you through uh, more appreciative means but got to spread. Anyway I took a quick shot in milk and it is tasty. I like the profile, too. I won't get a good comparison until I try it with the other stuff I put in the shake but so far I'm feeling good about it.

all this emphasis on fast-digesting protein is indeed an exercise in futility.
my own preference is for a blend, pretty much at all times.
you can use a whey concentrate or isolate, sure, but there are limitations and drawbacks to this.
blend will work at any given timeframe - and most times, is simply preferable period.

Try skimmer or semi skimmed milk
I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see.
