arnold, haney, coleman, jay, all wide structure , any narrow ones or was phil the first. not to take anything away from phil. just wondering

Not at all. Columbo, Zane, Dickerson were in the same boat as Phil. There were always guys that were wider than them, but they ended up winning the Mr. O title.

I still say having a good V taper is the best look. Arnold, haney, and coleman in his earlier reign took that. Cutler was wide in his shoulders, but also in his waist. Just not fond of the new blocky look.Originally Posted by MindMusclesoap

I think Dex looks wider IMO but phil is hitting that pose with his arms higher up so its hard to tell for sure

The first Mr. Olympia, Larry Scott, was pretty narrow too but he had great arms and delts to make up for it. Zane was not narrow at all. He had great shape and looked really wide standing relaxed.

Phil's narrowness isn't just about clavicles. It also has to do greatly with his chest insertions and muscle bellies. The way they are shaped doesn't lend a hand to giving the illusion of width. Same thing goes for freakishly large arms and shoulders, coupled with the chest genetics.
