Let's be real here, Math is the hardest major in terms of intellectual demand.

brb Engineers at most need Intro to Differential Equations.
    brb Physics is all calculation.
brb Abstract Algebra, wtf is this sh!t?
brb Computer Science, cake walk if you're good at math.

    inb4 cool story bro.

I would think math is the easiest major of the majors that use lots of math.
As a math major all you do is solve problems. In the others you have to know which math problems to use thus adding an extra step. I'm not a math major so maybe i'm wrong.

OP, most physics majors will at least do some quantum field theory in their senior year, and abstract algebra and complex analysis are a must for any form of quantum field theory. Many schools also offer intro to general relativity, which requires at least some elementary differential geometry and topology.

I've know many physics majors who have switched to math, but never any math majors switching purely to physics. Sorry.

Bachelors in Mathematics/Bachelors in Philosophy here

Really enjoy math....It is a really in demand major in my opinion right now.

Wasn't hard for me but I have an analytical mindset. Hard for me to step out of my shoes and say math is hard. When I tell people I majored at math they look at me like I am nuts.

Personally I think math is extremely foundational. I have done a large amount of tutoring and the common issue is people don't understand the basics which travel up the chain.

Abstract Algebra and Real Variables are difficult. Got A's in them somehow but I worked the hardest I ever have for a class...

You serious brah? E&M is not even hard bro. Most Math majors hate it because of the calculations... Upper level pure math rarely use numbers/calculate... Real Analysis and Abstract Algebra is the hardest undergraduate course.

Math becomes crazy once you finish the Calc. sequence and Diff EQ. I took classes in engineering (chemical) and it's not even comparable.

Do math majors even learn tensor calculus? Most physics majors at any good university will learn topology, Riemannian geometry, group theory, and complex analysis. Other than number theory and graph theory, physics majors will usually know as much math as math majors. Hence, physics > math.

What's your school? Show me the curriculum of their senior year quantum mechanics course (usually quantum mechanics II or III).

As for your TA, he probably came from a very low ranked school or probably didn't even do physics for his undergraduate. If he's an experimentalist, then obviously he wouldn't need any abstract algebra.

brb Computer Science, cake walk if you're good at math.

    inb4 cool story bro.
engineers arent math majors so it doesnt make sense to go above differential equations. abstract algebra is "math". computer science isnt math

As a former math major, I second this motion but it's worth mentioning that Chem E, EE, and Physics are pretty damn hard too and at some departments more rigorous than math.

I'd say Real Analysis, Logic, Chaos Theory, Fluid Dynamics, and Quantum Mechanics are probably the hardest classes an undergrad can take.

The University of Arizona. You can browse around there if you want, not doing it for you. Physics undergrad does not require you to understand the math courses you listed in real depth. Prove me wrong.

My TA went to the University of Texas-Austin (Ranked 14 for Physics) where he got his undergrad in Physics.

    Business (finance) major here.

Took calc3, diff eq and linear algebra for the lols. Was going to go for a math minor when I realized it was about to get a lot harder.

Huge respect for math majors. IMO yes, the most rigorous and intellectually challenging major.

I'm talking about academic. Doctor in emergency room is stressful, no doubt. So is being an infantry soldier.
