Since you apparently can't do math, I'll do it for you. Without the keyboard, monitor, camera, etc. it still costs 2400. I could EASILY build an 8 gig RAM, full tower case, i7 2600k, GTX 580 rig for ~1800, 2000 if you want an SSD. If I were trying to buy things cheap, buying lesser brands (like you have), and just generally trying to save money, I could do it for 1600-1750 (with no SSD).
Depends on your resolution. If you're over 1080p on a HYOOGE monitor then 1500+ sounds about right (not including monitor). 1080p or less though I'm sure you can build a proper computer for 1500 max, probably more like 1200 depending on how many corners you cut (read: not paying for windows) and old parts you recycle.

you spend $150 on windows 7 license and $170 on a mouse yet only get a (relatively crappy) $190 monitor? i dont even..
if i were to spend 3 grand on a computer i'd get a delicious monitor at least $500 which would serve justice for all that money spent
also you spend 3k on a computer and it only has one 580? your doin it wrong.. GL with your smooth FPS goals of 2012**** Techno Crew ****

I don't think you guys have noticed on the invoice it says "QLD' ie. in AUSTRALIA! Course its overpriced! Everything is jacked up over here! Buying from the US is cheaper and all, but when something goes wrong with a component, you're pretty much ****ed, even with a warranty (Shipping costs etc). Sometimes its worth just paying the extra for a local warranty.

Just did some calculations - For the BASE RIG with no anti-virus (yes a waste), webcam, or liquid cooling (he put it free)
intel i7 3.4 $335
gigabyte z68x UD5 $300
ocz agility 3 $209
Faex sata3 $106
580 GTX $550
Coolmaster $100
Antex $155
Windows 7 $100
Razer Anasi $130
Mamba $180
Hydro h60 $100
23" monitor $150
8 gig ram $100
=$2515+tax = $2766
I personally can't build a computer and I paid him $100 to make it (would have to anyway)
$2866
My pc (without the cam and security)
$2958 (a little less, didn't take tax off those two items)
So I overpaid by about $100, keep in mind I live in Australia so stuff is more expensive, and if I got the parts myself shipping would come into count, and time, I feel I got a pretty good deal.
EDIT: Remember EVERYTHING is more expensive in australia...

already paid
I never wanted to spend more than $3000 and still dont intend to... $3200 is my absolute limit, and I'll be upgrading ram and getting a mouse mat for that
also everyone saying it, of course this is a brag thread... wouldn't you? But it's a brag thread with the added bonus of helping me improve this pc, definitely going to go to 16 gigs of ram
