Barbell Upright Row / Dumbbell Upright Row

    Hey guys,

I was wandering if the dumbbell upright row is safer than the barbell upright row, since this exercise is quite controversial.

Thanks all for your help, i really appreciate it!!!

I like Wide Grip Upright Row. Grap the barbell about your shoulder width and raise it up to the bottom of your chest. This is great for working your side deltoids and some biceps and traps. Don't go too heavy and do 3 sets of 8-10 reps.

Try this exercise, the upright dumbbell underhand row. It really targets the rear delts and traps. I like it better than any other upright row. It's kind of like a reverse movement of a dip.

I do like both, but right now I'm only doing dumbbell upright rows, because I'm dealing with weak wrists and the additional range of movement I get with dumbbells enables me to still do this move without causing pain.

Hm, looks like a form of upright row, whether it's raise/row I dunno.

"If you feel like you really need to include some sort of upright rowing variation, I’d encourage you to use dumbbells, which allow you to adjust the plane of motion and grip to some extent, and thus reduce the aforementioned risks."

“Go back?" he thought. "No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!" So up he got, and trotted along with his little sword held in front of him and one hand feeling the wall, and his heart all of a patter and a pitter.”

If you're using one kettlebell then, if anything, the grip would be closer.

I have issues with muscle imbalances (all over!).

Therefore (and it's the reason for me coming across this thread) doing dumbbell upright rows will be better than using as a bar, as each side will be doing its own work.

    Right?
