    Deadlift VS Squat: Which is king?

    So after learning so much about lifting seriously, and also getting some (well not much 8 weeks lol) experience with serious lifting, i can say for sure that these 2 are the big baddies, the 2 contenders for the 'one' exercise. (maybe clean and jerk could the 3rd for almost total measure of strength) Each have their pros compared to the other, but im asking for YOUR opinion here, which is king for you, which one do you like more?

    Im gna have to go with the deadlift on this one. It judges more aspects of strength, and it just feels more badass picking up a massive weight from the floor knowing you just owned this bitch. (+ i deadlift around 80lbs more than i squat so its good for my ego too )

    Deadlifts definitely hit more muscle groups. Lets see...all of your back, legs, forearms, abs, even shoulders (somewhat) Squats are still great no doubt you NEED BOTH in your routine. But deadlift is the king

    I deadlift once every 4-6 weeks. Max.

    Close to competition, I'll do somelight double on 396-484 depending on how I feel a week before the meet date.

    I squat a lot more often though.

    I can recovery from squatting. 700pound deadlifts... not so much.

    I prefer squats more so than deadlifts. Only because while you can use heavy weight on DL's, it takes real form to do squats at Parallel or ATG (none of those 1/2,1/3,1/4 ROM) with just as much weight as you use on DL's.

    That's just my opinion though. I do both exercises because they're the big "daddy's" when it comes to building great mass and strength.

    I can understand that. Then again, you are lightyears ahead of me, and recovery is a whole other thing at your level than it is on mine, i can still get away deadlifting 2x a week and make fast progress. Although i dont think i will ever give up deadlifts for squats if i had to pick one, even if the squat has more benefits

    több a magyar/magyarul tudó mint gondolnád

    nekem rögtön squat után szokott enyhén fájni amúgy a hátam/derekam de elmúlik kb 1-2 percen belűl, deadlift után tök jól vagyok csak kibaszott fáradt még ha csak egy vagy két szettet csináltam akkor is.

    Squats are clearly better, deadlift gets more votes because the teen section has tiny "egos" and can move slightly more with their deadlifts.

    Squats are better..I mean, I still wouldn't give up deadlifts, but I like squats more..mainly because legs have always been my weakpoint and squats made them explode in terms of strength and size..although I'm sure deadlifts helped too

    I say this because I feel you don't recruit hamstrings effectively enough on squat until you squat deep.

    I'm no scientist but that's just how I feel when I squat.
