What do you guys think of the new Monsters (SRP line)?
http://forums.watchuseek.com/f21/srp...719052-13.html
My first impressions (so far) are that I prefer the original dial. Not really keen on the teeth indicies.

So I was thinking about this today because I thought it would be neat; are there any reverse movements out there? (not sure what to call it) Basically, the dial/ subdials/ datehweels are flipped/reversed, and the hands move counterclockwise.

Not any that come to mind, I'm sure a couple exist..
I'll probably make module that does that one day - would be funny to have a reverse watch.
Dat cerakote, definitely the work of Jay.
I'm pretty happy with my monstar at the moment, but that can quickly change.. especially when I'm back at school and have access to literally every tool imaginable to machine parts.
We have the facilities to machine to one micron (1/1000th of a millimeter) We could take an amzing sniper rifle, and re-machine the barrel and make it better..
Boner.
I think I'm going to build the toughest mechanical watch I can imagine, loosely based off an ETA caliber, but insanely bad ass.watches/cigars/scotch

Would it be easy as just flipping the mainspring inside the barrel so the barrel spins the other way? I think it'd be harder to source reverse dials/datewheels.
It would be the ultimate lefty watch, since the hands would move in the same direction relative to the human hand (out toward the pinky)

Seiko Military
If you have a small wrist and are looking for a $<75 watch for the weekends there's a pretty decent deal today at http://1saleaday.com/watch/. I have the black one and put a brown leather strap on it. Looks good and keeps time well, had it over a year.
Consistency is key.

Apart from the name of the brand, I think the price is so high because it includes;
- minute repeater
- perpetual calendar
- retrograde date indication
- very accurate age of the moon system
While the annual calendar doesn't have the really hard complications. A retro grade perpetual calendar is no easy feat.
You will find a decent amount of minute repeaters in the 200k range.

A watchmaking student made a ETA 6497 go in reverse for a school project. He did it by flipping the whole movement, that's why the mainspring at the front.
His build blog: http://6497flipp.blogspot.com
@ShadowClutch You wouldn't be able to flip the mainspring barrel inside the watch.

haha, not ignoring bruv, I'm still figuring out what I can and can't realistically produce in the next year...
I won't be able to make my own cases, or movements yet, but I could buy ETA's and hand finish them (bevel, geneve stripes, blue screws etc) and use a custom dial in a premade case with MAYBE custom hands. That would be more handmade work than you would find on many pieces in production today, even in high-end.
When I come out with some prototypes I'll be sure to let you know about them!
The real cool stuff will be coming with my school watch and if I can afford to work as an independent, the pieces I come out with after that. i may sell the school watch right away and work at a manufacture house or in after-sales service to pay off the loads of debt I'll be acquiring. Being an independent is very tough, Phillipe Dufour himself had many years of poor living conditions until his watches took off, and he's still very down to earth with his spending/ lifestyle today.watches/cigars/scotch

Ah yeh I understand, I was thinking the major problem would be winding it up. Winding the stem wouldn't wind up the spring. Modifying to wind in the direction would be a pain, you would have to add extra wheel somewhere on the ratchet & crown wheel line, also make a new location for the click and click spring.
