    SRS questions for non-Christians

There are over 300 predictions/prophecies in the Old Testament about the Messiah – all written at least 600-800 years before Jesus lived and most of which were fulfilled by Jesus. How is this possible?

When you say non-Christians, do you mean non-religious people, or actually just those who aren't Christian?

People who dont believe in Christ... Just wondering how that is not a factor in believing in who He was? I thought it was pretty compelling when I found that out. Just looking for the other side of the coin.

So are you saying Jesus was not the Messiah? I know quite a few people who would agree. They are called Jews.

Blindfold a man and tell him that he can travel as far as he wishes, but he must pick up one silver dollar and say that this is the right one. What chance would he have of getting the right one?

Professor Stoner went on to consider 48 prophecies and says, “… We find the chance that any one man fulfilled all 48 prophecies to be 1 in 10157.

“This is a really large number and it represents an extremely small chance. Let us try to visualize it. The silver dollar, which we have been using, is entirely too large. We must select a smaller object. The electron is about as small an object as we know of. It is so small that it will take 2.5 times 1015 of them laid side by side to make a line, single file, one inch long. If we were going to count the electrons in this line one inch long, and counted 250 each minute, and if we counted day and night, it would take us 19,000,000 years to count just the one-inch line of electrons. If we had a cubic inch of these electrons and we tried to count them it would take us, counting steadily 250 each minute, 19,000,000 times 19,000,000 times 19,000,000 [nineteen million times nineteen million times nineteen million] or 6.9 times 1021 years.

This is approximately the total number of electrons in all the mass of the known universe. In other words the probability of Jesus Christ fulfilling 48 prophecies is the same as one person being able to pick out one electron out of the entire mass of our universe.
Such is the chance of any one man fulfilling any 48 prophecies. Yet Jesus Christ fulfilled not just 48 prophecies, not just 61 prophecies, but more than 324 individual prophecies that the Prophets wrote concerning the Messiah. I haven’t been able to find the statistical projection representing the possibility of Jesus Christ fulfilling 324 prophecies but I really don’t think it matters given the illustrations set forth above.

Came here to say this. There is nothing to say there wasn't a Jesus that was born 2000 years ago, but other than the Bible there is no evidence to say he performed any miricials or was the son of god.

Mind giving a few of those examples? It's not hard to make general-open predictions. I hereby predict that next year a natural disaster will occur that will kill many people. I also predict that clean water will be harder to obtain.

But their is a lot of prophecies that were outside of teachings.. like being pierced, gambling for his belongings, ect.. To answer the second question, I believe the Jews think their are some. But from my understanding, they are also prophecies that are supposed to be filled later by Jesus, when He returns and such.. But good question.

Prove that Jesus fulfilled them. You can't.

In the future, people could read any of our fiction novels and believe something of it was true, they wouldn't know otherwise.

perhaps you should list these predictions, If you make a very specific prediction like "pick one silver dollar that is marked in red felt pen with the words "do you even lift" on it, then the odds are very low. However if you make a prediction like "someone will be born and people will think he is magic" , the odds suddenly become much more favorable.

also list other historical writings/texts from that time period, besides the bible, acknowledging that Jesus actually performed the miracles that he supposedly did. To me people actually believing that a guy who lived 2000 years ago with a few good ideas and a bit of charisma was actually the son of a God is akin to people 3000 years from now digging up old textbooks from North Korea and believing everything it says about Kim Jong Il

And we know as a matter of fact that these prophecies were fulfilled....... how??

Would you trust religious testimony penned by third world middle-easterners today? Why would the testimony of primitive superstitious cultures from 2000 years ago be more credible?

There are millions of people in China today who believe that Mao Zedong was the messiah. With enough promises of paradise and a little bit of peer pressure, people will drink poisoned Kool-Aid in an effort to ride the tail of a comet. The willingness of people to believe incredible things as a result of social bias is extremely well documented.

Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see.

You have given out too much Reputation in the last 24 hours, try again later.... I do believe that it can be logical. That if it was before a court, you could prove beyond a reasonable doubt. Not all the way, thats why there is faith, but pretty close.

Lmfao OP that can be easily explained because if you measure the acidity of orange juice and are able to mix it with unstable atoms at a longitude and latitude of 30 degrees,
you will come up with a solution that, when exposed to ultra gamma ray radiation, will be able to extract dna from the genus record because one of the particles will take part in a nuclear reaction with citric acid carring it into an isotope.

bible says man was made from dirt

man was obviously not made from dirt

inb4 OP tries to claim it was "metaphorical". If that's metaphorical, then one must assume the entire concept of the existence of a supreme being is likely metaphorical as well.

Don't have heroes; look up to no one. Because as long as someone's leading the way, the best you'll ever be is second.
