Why would it be a 40 yard dash???
Why only 40 yards???
40 yards is only like 36 meters...thats nothing. Soccer players run much longer lengths than that.
If you are going to continue to be biased and use both US metrics and lengths that US players train for than you are a *******.

well, for sprints, obviously american footballers. That's half the sport. Soccer is more general athleticism and american football is all about a bunch of special sports specific things.
Lifts:
Squat: 460x1
Bench: 400x1
Deadlift: 575x1
OHP: 250x2
Weight: 180 lbs.
Don't have heroes; look up to no one. Because as long as someone's leading the way, the best you'll ever be is second.

The top 5 players in soccer this season are as followed in no order
Bale
Walcott
Samuel eto'o
Ryo myachi
Aaron Lennon.
All of those players have 100m dashes of under 11seconds. But the thing that sets aside soccer players from football players it that soccer players have far superior 15yard times(if they were measured). And they can do it. Stop take no break, and record the Same time 5 times in a row. They have to sprint at top speed, all while have a ball at your feet and defenders throwing their feet at your stride and battling physically from defenders. In a zig-zag race, soccer players would record times better than football players. The 10th fastest soccer player will beat the fastest ever football player in a zig zag race. Then beat the second fastest, without any break. I currently play high school football( 5'11 185, 4.7 40yd and 37 inch vertical) and high school soccer. Both sports are difficult. In a straight sprint for 40yds a football player would win. Hands down. But could he win the second time?

If you guys are saying ronaldo is one of the fastest soccer players you are discrediting your own point lol, he ran a 3.6 over 25m 3 point ****ing 6, that is horrible. then he took a vertical jump test with a 2 step run up and barely jumped 30 inches I personally can jump 4 inches higher than that as a regular citizen who barely trains. lets just admit football players are way faster and more explosive, its pretty obvious

[QUOTE=GrecoRoman;765516483]Football has the better/faster pure athletes. Wes Welker would rival Messi with his lateral speed and agility and Welker isn't even a top 20 fastest player. BRB trying to mark Calvin Johnson in the box.
dumb ass!
theres a BIG difference between agility with a soccer ball and agility with a "foot"ball
i bet messi is more agile than him without any type of ball and plus messi may be second best or the best player right now but that doesnt mean he's the fastest soccer player DUMB ASS, i dont even think messi is in the top 20 either!
for real football(soccer) you need more than speed!

Adam Gemili was a decent young "soccer" player in West Ham's development squad. He went to a local athletics club to improve his sprinting technique, and within 15 months had become the fastest 100m sprinter in World Junior history!
Usuan Bolt is also desperate to play for Man Utd. When he does I think "soccer" will have the winrar!Crohns Crew

you soccer players need to quit being so but hurt football players are faster in the 40 times hands down that is what the op asked for not who has more stamina and I would probably win a lot of.money if I said I am sure that most football players could keep up with soccer players in stamina as well. it is a fallacy to say that soccer players never stop running because they do I saw it recently. guarentee Adrian Peterson would be able to keep up stamina wise with the best soccer players and that dude has 220 lbs on him but I digress that was not the Ops question.
football>soccer 40 times
