I enjoy drinking fat free milk. It is the only kind I can handle. Don't know how people can drink whole milk. I think it is pretty disgusting and leaves a horrible after taste!

Great article. Do you have any thoughts/input on almond milk? I've seen it next to soy in the grocery store and haven't put much thought into it because it doesn't have much protein. Maybe there is some information I am missing aside from what is on the nutrition facts?

I appreciate this post lot.In my child hood days I am crazy behind this but as and when I grow I neglecting this due to I have find many others alternative to drink compare to milk but now I realized that no other than can take place of milk. It really proves very much useful in maintaining our health and from that day I take a pledge to drink milk 2 times a day.

Anyway thanks a lot for this important sharing.

I've been lactose intolerant for a few years now and have tried many different alternatives to cows milk. I've settled with soy because of both price and taste. Rice milk was average to say the least, and goats milk too expensive. I miss my favourite desert, fresh fruit salad with youghurt stirred through. I can still eat sheeps milk cheese, which i prefer to the cheaper "tasty" style cheese available in most grocery stores. Good post OP!

Maybe it is the matter of when you eat it? Milk does not go very well with most of foods if you drink it throughout the day, it digests around six hours. However it is perfect for drinking at night as your last meal before sleep. Then its amazing for its effect.
I grew up in village, where we had our own cown and was drinking real full fat milk for most of my childhood. No one there even heard anything about lactose intolerance, cholesterol or any health problems from milk and people are living 90+ years there.

Great article! I've switched to soy milk a year ago and never looked back. (probably helps I'm also semi-lactose intolerent). So many studies that go both ways with estrogen regulation of soy... I have high bf% so the estrogen levels are already outta control haha

Ok. So I read the whole thing (ba dum tss!). Here's why the article is a bad source of information.

    No sources whatsoever.

    "One piece of research..."
    "Anecdotal evidence links..."
    "Another study linked"
The list goes on and on, and yet not a single source was given that day.

But let's give the journalist (see that? a journalist wrote it, not a scientist, anyway...) benefit of the doubt that she actually read studies. Well, there is no evidence of cross-examination, seems he picked the studies that suited his argument. Since we don't know the sources, how do we know how accurate these studies are, were they repeated, is there evidence for causation or just correlation?

The nutritional information given in the article is a joke. Total calories and fat grammage. Clearly a bias in the information provided, the journalist wanted to play on the public's lack of knowledge about micros/macros.

In conclusion, I wouldn't suggest taking anything out of this article seriously.

Actually, the best source of calcium for humans is in the fruits and vegetables that you eat.

So... Milk. Yeah. Not good calcium source in the form we get it.

I agree about milk having a good composition and lot's of calories for bb but in USA if it's not organic, their could be rBGH(bovine growth hormone) in it which is linked to all sorts of cancers later on down the track. Not saying it isn't healthy without all the added on junk.

soy milk causes estrogen growth and other problems. Cows milk reduces calcium in your body, but grass fed organic milk has MANY benefits, including the CLA that really isn't in the store brand crap you get.
