Having a hard time eating right now. Can someone recommend very nutritious smoothie options that do not include protein powders? I have been substituting greek yogurt instead for protein.
I made a spinach/rasberry/greek yogurt with milk one and it was okay but pretty ... not sweet. Not a fan of the taste of honey. Any better combo ideas? High fat, high calorie is okay.

You could add a 1/2 banana for sweet or use agave. I like honey but not all honey. My fav is the raw YS brand.
1 banana
2 tbs almond butter
2 tbs unsweetened cocoa
1 tbs honey
1 cup rice milk
about 4 ice cubes
handful of spinach
Most of the time I just wing it and throw in what I have. I really like blueberries so I put them in everything. Blueberry/mango/kale. I like using beets, spinach, kale, chard, carrots, passionfruit...whatever looks good at the time and add some sweet. Agave is nice because it's not thick like honey. I like two fruits and a green combo. If I can't get fresh, I'll get some small bags of different frozen fruit to keep around. I'm currently on a no fruit diet but I love smoothies. You may delay, but time will not - Ben Franklin

Hmm, there's one that I've been making every morning as a post w/o smoothy, it contains whey vanilla whey but you could use vanilla greek yogurt im sure.
Green Vanilla Smoothy:
1 scoop of vanilla whey (or however much vanilla greek yogurt you like)
1/2 cup vanilla almond milk
3/4 cup of cold water
1 tbsp of cocoa powder
2 cups of spinach (I know this sounds gross, but it's amazing!)
6 icecubes
1/2 tsp of xanthan gum
Drops/packets of stevia to sweeten
Pile it all in a blender and blend until smooth. I know the ingredients sound gross with the spinach and all, but I've literally been craving it in the mornings it's so good!
It would probably taste better with the yogurt mixed in too instead of they whey.
I usually use about 4 droppers of stevia, it gives it just the right amount of sweetness to even out the cocoa.Last edited by kait123; 10-12-2011 at 10:41 AM. Reason: Forgot a tip!

This one is pretty good:
3/4 cup almond milk
1 banana
1/2 cup sweet potato(I actually use one jar of baby food sweet potato)
1/2 avocado
sweetener of your choice
I believe the original recipe I was given called for honey but my friend who passed it on to me used agave. I ended up not putting any sweetener because I used protein powder and didn't really need it. I'm sure you could throw some Greek yogurt in with it and it would be good.Danielle xoxo

"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
