    Need info on "weightlifters shoulder"

I was not sure where to post this so hopefully someone can help me out. Ive been looking up some info on weightlifters shoulder. I have recently sprained my ac joint for the second time now doing bench press, i have the "bump" of the clavicle. I have no pain and no limited range of motion. I haven't lifted any weights in about 3 weeks now and the bump still has not gone down. I had my arm in a sling for a week and had it taped down for 2 now. Is it worth going and getting my shoulder x-rayed or having surgery done to lower back down the clavicle?

Vist a doctor ... one who has gone to a bunch of expensive schools, not one with a Web Ph.D.

I have some experience helping people rehabilitate from AC Joint seperations. I also have had a Type 2 seperation in my left shoulder, so I feel your pain. I agree with Jgood, visit a doctor ASAP and have it checked it out. Most AC Joint seperations occur after a blunt impact (such as diving/falling on your shoulder; this happened to me).

If you have a Type 1 seperation, it will require minor rehab and 3-5 weeks of rest.
If you have Type 2 seperation, 9 times out of 10 you will require surgery to correct the problem and attempt to maximize ROM. You could be out 6-10 weeks, depending on how well you rehab, before you could bench again. It took me eight months to get over the pain.

See a specialist immediately to avoid any future damage.
