Just wanted to chime in really quick, this is what really pissed me off towards the end. It's just stupid football, especially when you're already one man down and losing badly. Fergie himself said as much afterwards, that with Rio and Evra on the pitch that they should have known better.

Just watched the match on replay, it helps with getting over such disappointments. Man Silva is fantastic. Replace Nani's footballing brain with silva's and you get a footballing genius.

We are a world class midfielder short of our potential, all of those are good enough to play in a top side but they need someone special beside them if we are to kick on from here imo. We can still win trophies with our current team but need one more player to reach the next step and dominate.

he'll be a good player. I lol at all the idiots writing him off already just cause he's had a few mediocre games. let's not forget that around a year ago he was playing non-league football.
not to mention that he has one of the best right backs in the world to learn from.

We are just going through a rough patch at the moment, like Chelsea went through the previous season, but we will definitely bounce back. We looked a lot more deadly with Cleverly in the squad, everyone thrived better at that pace. Rooney plays his best when the game is quickened and Anderson also seemed to enjoy it. For me Fletcher and Carrick don't have that special something that Cleverly brought to the team. Can't wait for him to come back.
I guess it all depends on how you view the game. Fergie was probably emotional after the game, but I am sure he knew that we couldn't just sit back and take the loss and that we had to try and make something of the game, which in the end led us to the big loss.
Personally I prefer a team to keep on trying for a draw/win rather than accept defeat, particularly in the league where goal difference hardly ever plays a role at the end of the season. It was only 3 point loss, the worse thing was it was a derby loss.

I still think Man United are the best team in the league but if they want to make yesterday irrelevant they need to beat City convincingly away from home in the same manner.
Both teams will most likely meet again at some point, whether it be in a domestic cup or Champions League, United HAVE to stop City getting the better of them otherwise it'll only get worse.
Yesterday was a massive wake up call to United and their fans. I think who United lost too is a bigger a talking point. Losing 6-1 to your noisy neighbours is just beyond embarrassing.

Reality is that any of these teams - Man City, Utd, Barca, Madrid, Chelsea... are capable of beating one of their fellow big clubs by a 4 or 5 goal margin on their day.
Anyway back to Utd, their central midfield is weak beer compared to their wingers, Ferguson must know this. I suspect Nasri fell through at the last moment, and Sneider was nearly a closed deal too.
The other problem is Ferdinand's ageing, and the young replacement aren't quite ready, so there's transition defensively.

no, he's just really, really good at scoring goals. not to mention that his chances have been few this season due to the general crappiness of the current arsenal side.
I think rooney is a more well-rounded attacking player and I think aguero has a lot of qualities that are superior to van persie, but on current form I can't see how any other striker can be considered better.

I think the high level of play from Rooney, Nani etc has covered up for the fact that Man U dont have a quality central midfielder which was exposed badly yesterday. I still think they are a top side but they wont get anywhere near Barca or Bayern with Fletcher/Anderson/Carrick.
I think people saying they need Sneijder are wrong. They dont need a penetrating midfield player, Nani, Young, Rooney all create and get penetration, they miss a midfielder who can control the game with passing like Modric, Schweinsteiger, Xavi.
On another note Rio Ferdy is terrible, Jones Vidic and Smalling are all much better right now
