Can you brahs aware me on multi monitor displays????

Basically I wanna know how they work:

1-Are they simply two monitors attached by a device that lets them operate together, or are they built for multi displays and thats that?

2-Can I turn off one monitor if I so wish and keep just one?

3- Is it possible to use my second monitor as my PS3 screen? I plan on using this with a DVI to HDMI adapter, but I am confused.

Tell me what I need to know about them brahs.

Your video card would have more than one output, or you can use multiple video cards to do it.
Then it's just a few settings in the operating system..

    Two normal monitors..

Yeah you could turn one off, but if you don't tell the computer to stop using it, you can still move stuff to that monitor and 'lose it'

    3- Sure, why not?
Assuming your monitor would have more than one input, you could change the input and use it for your computer and your PS3.

So if I wanna use one for PC gaming, will I need two video cards, even though I'm only gonna use one screen? Will it take power away from my one monitor used for gaming?

I'm thinking since it's two monitors the graphics card will be doing double the work, and when it's gaming on one monitor half of it's power will be on the monitor not being used.

You can always turn one monitor off through the video card drivers.

    You can:
-Pick which monitor you want to use as your "main screen"
-Option to show the same thing on both screens or have a main screen and then you can just drag stuff onto the other screen
-Disable 1 monitor from a few clicks

You don't need 2 video cards as long as your video card has multiple display ports. One monitor won't necessarily take away power from the other screen, but your video card will work a lot harder if its an older card.

You attach both monitors to your graphics card. There should be an option on Win 7 to extend the monitors so your comp will think you have a 1 huge monitor. 1 card is good enough for one screen. Even if you have 2 screens attached to 1 card, it will only be playable on the main monitor, not on both.

You can choose to use one or both.

you will have the option to use your monitor as a ps3 screen, I do this all the time on my second screen when im doing important stuff on the main screen. You just need to make sure your monitor has an HDMI input or adapter.

That's pretty much my exact setup. I have two 22" monitors in dual screen connected to the PC with either DVI/VGA. One of them has the PS3 connected to it with HDMI. So when ever I want to use the PS3, I simply just press the "Source" button on my monitor and it will switch the source input to the PS3... but everything running on the PC is still there on the monitor.
