Great workout. Squatting and benching flew by quickly. I think my body is beginning to adjust to the routine and produce some strength gains, but it is a bit early to determine that. Week 5 is "PR" week, so I'm looking forward to it
I'm going to be traveling down to Dallas, Texas this President's day weekend, so I may not be able to begin week 3 of the routine until next Tuesday (at the latest). I'll do my best, though, to find some time and go to a gym down there.
Or I might just eat my way to the 181lb weight class. I have no idea why, but I'm feeling pretty chubby in the midsection, yet I've lost a few pounds...not too many single fuks are given.jpg

deadlifts went up nice and easy. Another fast workout...in and out within 35 minutes. Was hoping to spend more time in the gym...oh well :d time to eat and rest up for the next workout!
Greetings from DALLAS, TEXAS! Ended up going locally to a LA Fitness around here with my brother for a quick workout. Nice facility with great equipment and plenty of power racks. Only downside, god awful music selection (just listen to the music in the attached vids).
I had a pretty decent workout overall. The squats felt good and went by smooth. The bench, however, was a bit more of a grind for some reason. I may have incorrectly setup my grip distance...
Regardless, the trip has been awesome thus far. This part of Texas is not that different from NJ/Boston, where I'm normally used to...

great squats. I'm surprised an LA Fitness has plenty of power racks.....I always thought they just had a **** load of cardio stuff.
this.. the ones i've been to have those stupid peg-squat racks. My buddy found an LA fitness that supposedly has some PLer's and a couple racks but thats super rare.
only thing i ever liked about LA fitness was they get BADASS bball sessions. Usually best local games can find outside of uni gyms (... i really like to ball...)

They have mostly those peg-squat racks...I managed to find a regular power rack, but the spacing on where to setup the bar sucks.

That set looked super clean, and the bar looked like it was perfect going up your legs (no homo)

Squats went very well. Bench...not so much. That third rep was a bit of a grinder. It seems that 200x5 will be...rather difficult to complete. Squats/Deadlifts seem to be progressing well on Madcows, but I may be hitting a wall with the Bench. How unfortunate , seeing as I was hoping for that to progress the best.
Oh well! 2/3 lifts moving up is still awesome.

Shirt's too big to see your arch. Do you ever get wrist/elbow pains from holding the bar like that when you squat?
Oddly enough, I've never gotten any sort of pain having my elbows shoot back like that. It does look a bit awkward, but it feels the most comfortable in that position.

Every single rep of every set should be working on your arch man. Powerlifting isn't just about doing the reps its about getting better technique every time

Thanks bro. It helps keep me accountable with my form/technique/squat depth. It's also nice to look back at see how I've progressed in a video-log sort of manner.
Anyways, I'm supposed to start week 4 of madcows 5x5 today, but I'm going to hold off until tomorrow. Had a crazy, fun, and wild night of all too much drinking. Gonna nurse this hangover and eat a ton.
