Rolle was not the greatest in pass coverage for years, but that doesn't mean he was useless. Collins make up for it by having great instincts, playing excellent run defense, being of the best tacklers I've seen at the safety position, hitting hard, making big plays (timely FF and INTs), etc. Collins is the type of safety that every team coveted 10-15 years ago. Now the game has changed a bit, but I think he can still find a place at SS.

the more i read about collins, the more i find out he's better in pass coverage than people think. same thing with his range. he's 6'0 230 pounds and mayock said he added too much muscle/bulk which might've slowed him down a bit so maybe he trims down a little. i think he's only really limited in that he won't be playing single high safety (like kenny phillips did) but split field/cover 2 he's fine with. nat berhe will be the free safety and he's extremely fast/rangy but we'll see how he handles it. either way, im sure spags will find a way to play this guy all over the field since he's such a sure tackler. this guy DOES NOT miss tackles and we needed that badly.
overall i loved this draft. we somehow filled our biggest needs (OL, S, DE) with great value. we got arguable the best Safety and Tackle in the draft and on top of that added a greek god of a human being at DE who was a projected early 2nd rounder. his game tape against USC is ridiculous.
i can't pretend like i know anything about our last 3 guys we picked but those first 3 picks were enough to make me happy with this draft. our Oline is finally set and flowers just might end up taking over beatty's spot at LT down the road.

My full draft review - Giants focus on strength and the run game:
1) Ereck Flowers OT - This pick made a lot of sense given the position that they were at, even if it is not going to "Wow" anybody. Flowers will immediately improve their running game, which has been one of the worst in the league over the past 4 years. He drives his man back like a bulldozer, and almost never gets beaten in the run game. He shows great speed for a guy his size. In pass protection, he gave up zero sacks this year, but he struggles with technique issues that could cause him to be a liability early in his career. This was a risky pick because of that, but he has potential to be a franchise left tackle for years to come.
2) Landon Collins S - The Giants run defense was the worst in the league last year. That's something that Collins immediately improves. He is one of the best tacklers at the safety position I've seen in college. He shows great instincts and takes good angles to the ball. He is a physical freak at 220 lbs, and is actually very fast for his size. The reason he fell in this draft from being a top 10 pick to a early 2nd is because of his coverage skills, which at times were in question. However, several scouts and coaches have said he is actually better in coverage than people think, and people were over-dramatizing a few bad plays he made in his junior year. I think he will be an in-the-box safety who mainly plays the run, and who can match up well against bigger TE's, but may struggle if matched against slot receivers or speedy RB's (like Sproles for example).
3) Owamagbe Odighizuwa DE - This is another guy who is a top tier run defender, something the Giants clearly prioritized this draft. He is also a physical freak athlete just like Collins and even Flowers, who were all top performers at their positions in the bench press. As a pass rusher, there are some concerns that he doesn't have a great repertoire of pass rush moves. That is something he will need to develop. He also has a medical red flag on his previous hip injury, which caused him to miss all of the 2013 season. That is why he fell from being a late 1st round pick to a 3rd rounder. That being said, the Giants have an eye for great pass rushers, and this kid has potential to be just that.
4) None, traded for Collins
5) Mikkele Thompson S - OK, this was the first really questionable pick. This guy doesn't really look like anything special. We could have had him in the 7th round and picked up a nice TE instead. Seemed like a reach because we needed safeties. He is fairly athletic and improved greatly in his final year under a new head coach, so he is at least trending upwards. I would expect him to compete for a spot as the 3rd or 4th safety.
6) Geremy Davis WR - This guy physically compares to Hakeem Nicks or a young TO. He is huge and in great shape, another top strength performer at the combine for his position. The question of his career will be if he can learn to run cleaner routes in order to get better separation from DB's. He lacks that quick twitch that you look for in a receiver, and the top end speed to burn guys deep. That definitely concerns me.
7) Bobby Hart OL - This is another huge young tackle that Jerry Reese loves, who the Giants probably stash on their Practice Squad and look to develop for a future backup role.
Final Grade: B+. I like the first 3 picks, especially rounds 2 & 3, but not a huge fan of the Day 3 picks. Think we missed out by not picking up a TE in one of the later rounds and reached on a few guys.Reppin all Phillies, 76ers, and NY Giants fans

This team is pure hot garbage. Probably the worst team in the last 4 years. Can't win a game after getting 17 points from turnovers. Besides the turnovers the defense couldn't stop anything. The offense is so stale. I honestly cannot watch a full season of this bullcrap. We are going to win 6 games at most. We somehow manage to get a thousand injuries every year.
It's time for a total overhaul and a new era but that's not going to happen.

I just don't get why they don't go for it on forth down. Worst case scenario is you waste another 30-40 seconds and Dallas starts on the 1. Eli looked like he was arguing that on the side with macadoo.

Always was zero pass rush. I'm hoping part of that is the Dallas o-line, otherwise this will be a real long season.
