Ive decided to do an amateur on post bench press comp in a couple weeks and need to ask a serious question. Im relatively clueless as to the ins and outs of rules/regulations in powerlifting.
When I normally bench I touch the bar to my boobs, it sinks in some, but the bar physically cannot touch my pec muscles because of my fake boobs. Is this going to be considered a good lift? With the tank top Im wearing there wont be a gap between my boobs and the bar, but the bar wont touch my pecs.
Also, when factoring weights for the 3 attemps, I can successfully lift 180lbs 4x, so would shooting for 190 for the last lift be good? Obviously I can tell if Im just not feeling it after my first 2 lifts, but wanted to see if this was a reasonable goal, would also be my new PR. The most Ive ever done was the 4x 180 and it was in the past few weeks. I think my lifts would be 1. 160 2. 175 3. 190, or should my first 2 weights be more "warmup"?
Thanks!

Yea, usually people do their 1st attempt as something they can triple. So technically you could open at 180. But if your new to lifting heavy, calculating your 1 rep max might be skewed. So your max might only be 185 or 190. Also, check the rules and see if you have to pause on your chest and wait for a press command. Did you do it that way for your 180x4?

Yes I know I have to pause, I watched the last comp they had. I just wanted to clarify because I dont want them NOT calling it because its not "low enough". 180x4 were very strict no help whatsoever. They are also doing a "How Many Times can you bench X weight?" For my female weight class its 65lbs... I lol'ed

You will just have to bring the bar down to your chest, whether its your boobs or pecs it doesn't matter as long as the bar touches "you" and the bar stops moving.
Typically one would bench this at a contest: 1st attempt Max - 10 pounds, 2nd attempt Max + 5 pounds, 3rd attempt if 2nd was good Max + 10; if the 2nd attempt was missed retry Max + 5.
I live just up the road in Bremerton, WA. 180 x 4 is pretty good, that should put you around 200 x 1. However, benching touch and go is a lot different than holding a pause at the bottom and then pressing, so if 180 x 4 is touch and go 190 or 195 is reasonable.
Good luck at your competition, 65lbs ??? no kidding you loled... My girlfriend and I are Professional Highland Game athletes. We do a lot of strength lifts bench/squat/power cleans/snatch etc... and she has put up 195 x 1 on bench, so she is at a similar strength level.
