This thread is for anyone who has a love of pull-ups.
Pull-ups are one of the best compound exercises out there without question. A pull-up monkey is easy to spot among the weekend warriors at your gym: pulsating lats, engorged traps, boulders for shoulders, plump biceps and forearms so wide you could use them as a serving tray.
Post your PR's, questions, tips and suggestions, we are all here to help each other.
Each fortnight, a new pull-up challenge will be posted, with reps (a gentlemens agreement) going to the best, most improved or most involved posters.
To post, you must be able to do BWx10. It's that easy. If you can't do 10, what are you waiting for? Join the club

I'm SomeRandom and I'm a pullup addict... I started doing pullups over the summer because I didn't have access to weights for quite a long time. I ended up making a spreadsheet and trying to beat yesterday's total. The highlight was probably 300 pullups in one day. Now I do them weighted (currently at +30lbs) and am trying to get to 1 plate as fast as possible. From there the sky is the limit. Lately my I've been exhibiting pullup monkey-like behaviors such as supersetting everything from deadlifts to squats with body weight pullups.
Other info:
Age: 15
Current weight: ~142lbs
Favourite movie: The Shawshank Redemption
bw max=14
weighted 5RM= +30lbs
45lbs= ???
1RM= ???
short term goal:+45lbs pullup x5
Long term goal: join the extreme pullups crew
I'll test my 45lbs, and 1RM on Monday and update!Last edited by SomeRandom; 10-01-2011 at 06:40 PM.

I'm Teenwolf2 and I'm a pull-up addict.
I started doing pull ups 3 months ago, starting with sets of 3. I was immediately captivated, and since I have been doing them religiously. Now I'm at BWx16 and +45x5, and I'm aiming to get to +70x5 before christmas. I love doing pull- ups because it's such a natural movement, and something which not only makes you a rough nut, but also is great in terms of aesthetic gains.I'm aware I'm a wolf

Get the entire video and fast-forward
I take your word for it that you did 100, but it's only fair that everyone submit an entire video.
Make a list of people that will rep the winners of the challenge TeenWolf. And include the list in the post that the challenge is with
This is what I had in mind.
This week's challenge
Timed Pullup Challenge
Conditions: 100 pullups in (20:00) minutes or less. No restrictions on sets or reps. All pullups must be dead hang (arms fully extended), with no lower body momentum, and chin going over the bar. Video proof must be submitted (fast-forward if possible).
Reps to anyone who succeeds from the following members:
SomeRandom
Teenwolf2
Ryandrummer
etc.
post itt or pm to be included in the list by the way. Not adding anyone without them volunteering.Last edited by SomeRandom; 10-02-2011 at 09:05 AM.

IN FOR SURE!!
I used to be addicted to pullups lol (srs). I did probably 40-60 a day for a few months straight. I have been really slacking in that department lately so I could really use the motivation.
My best PR's have been BW x 20 & +45x8 deadhang-not completely strict when I was around 170lbs~. Now I can probably crank out BWx14 on a good day if I was really pushing myself at around 185lbs.
I'll do some pullups next workout and see exactly where I'm at.live.laugh.lift
