Even the most elite level athletes in the sport seem to be less concerned with diet than most other athletes. Although most may eat "healthy" it doesnt seem like much of an emphasis is placed on this subject. I compete at the collegiate, national, and international levels and have yet to find anyone with the "perfect" oly diet, or even anyone attempting to find one.
I have a few questions, do you guys think that oly lifters would benefit the same way bodybuilders and powerlifters do by using strategies like carb back loading and intermittent fasting? The scientific theories and ideas behind back loading seem like they would make a great fit in the sport, so why havent people been using them? It seems like taking full advantage of insulin level timing is something that more people should become familiar with. Im asking this question from an athletes standpoint who wants to gain strength and muscle while of course, limiting fat retention.
Thanks,
CODI

I know coaches like Greg Everette at catalyst athletics have a lot of success with Paleo diets. There is a lot of scientific research showing that diets that reduce inflammation (aka paleo diets) with adequate carbs from tubers and roots are optimal for athletes.
Then again anyone at the olympic level probably struggles to get enough calories in eating whatever they can as they're training technical/strength components every day for 4-8 hours.Above all, don't lie to yourself. The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love.
