Assault vs Assault (Old vs New - *MY COMPARISON*)

Ok, I've been seeing this asked daily since the new formula came out, so I decided to add one of those "mini" 8-serving tubs of the "new" Assault to my BB.com order and compare it to the old formula. For comparison sake, I decided to use my tub of the old Assault (Blue Ras flavor, contains Suma Root) all week long (Monday-Wednesday) before using the new formula today (Thursday), as I wanted to take a break from White Flood for a week anyway.

Before we get started, my experience with pre-workouts includes; NeuroCore, Assault (old formula w/Suma Root), White Flood v2, Jack3d Gakic Hardcore, Gakic Pro-Series, Maniac, and Animal Rage. My normal pre is White Flood v2, but I would switch off to Assault on occasion. I also take a mixture of Xtend + Purple PsyKO Intra, and use Green Bulge + Agmatine 60-90 minutes before hitting the gym.

Directions for Assault (new formula): Mix 1/2 to 1 scoop of ASSAULT in 14-16 oz of water 20-30 minutes before training. For optimal results, drink a minimum of 1 gallon of water daily.

*FOR HARDCORE TRAINING SESSIONS: Use 1 scoop of ASSAULT in 12-16 oz of water 20-30 minutes before training.

FOR MODERATE-INTENSITY TRAINING: Use 1/2 scoop of ASSAULT in 8-12 oz of water 20-30 minutes before training.
***The difference between old and new is that the old versions said to take it 30-45 minutes before training

I used a 2/3rd scoop of the old formula Mon-Wed, and a 2/3rd scoop of the new formula today

INITIAL RESPONSE: The original generally takes 45 minutes or so for me to really feel it, the new formula hit me in under 20 minutes. Very impressed, even felt BA tingles (something the old formula never gave me).
WINNER = NEW - There's absolutely no question here, the new formula "kicks-in" way faster.

MIXABILITY: So the old formula used to settle on the bottom, and I would have to continually add water to get it all to dissolve. The new formula still doesn't dissolve all that well, however it now floats to the top instead of settling on the bottom.

WINNER = TIE - They both suck at mixing, however at least the new one doesn't sit at the bottom of my blender bottle anymore, I guess. (please note that large-thing floating in the center is a piece of ice)

FLAVOR/TASTE: Here's the tricky part. The "mini tubs" only come in "Orange Mango", and I'm used to (and in love with) "Blue Arctic Rasberry". I honestly didn't care for the new flavor all that much, though I'm sure it's more to do with the fact that I'm "not big" on mangos than with the new one "not tasting as good" as the old.
WINNER = UNKNOWN - Since they weren't the same flavor, I cannot give a valid winner, nor comment on if the taste has changed at all.

WORK-OUT PERFORMANCE: New formula gave me a more steady flow of energy compared to the old formula, it's definitely been improved. With the old formula I would feel it hit and then slowly go away (or get "used up" maybe is the phrase I'm looking for...?), the new one stayed with me till the end of my work-out. The energy also felt cleaner/more-natural, IMO. Very nice.
WINNER = NEW

CRASH: With the old formula I would start to feel a little tired a few hours after my work-out, but it was hardly a crash when compared to Jack3d or Gakic Pro Series and the-like. However, with the new formula, the added energy "slowly" tapered off and I just went back to normal, no crash what-so-ever for me.
WINNER = NEW - For *lack* of a crash.

THINGS TO CONSIDER: The old formula used to give you 40 half-scoop servings, the new version now only gives you 32 for the same price. However, it definitely gives better energy, but if you take full-scoops and use Assualt 4x/week, you're looking at only 4 weeks worth of workouts with the new formula, and at $35+ per tub (+ shipping) that begins to add up. Also the old Assault would often give me bloating with continual usuage, I noticed that I didn't bloat at all with the new formula.

OVERALL WINNER = NEW FORMULA

Pros of the New Formula

• Great energy

• Energy feels cleaner than the original

• Gives more endurance than the original

• No crash

• No longer using cyanocobalamin as it's b12 source

• No more bloat!

Cons of the New Formula

• Same price, less servings

• Still doesn't dissolve all that well

FINAL THOUGHTS: If you liked the old Assault, you will love the new Assault. That's the best way I can put it

Not crying about it, but that's exactly what I was referring to, the "left over"
It doesn't really bother me in all honesty, should've made that clear, but compared to White Flood and others (which dissolve fully and nearly instantly) it doesn't "mix" as well, ya know?

Oh, I forgot to mention that the new version actually seemed to provide a difference in pump inconjunction with the agmatine. The old version would never give me much of anything. Muscle Pharm did a really good job with this.

Considering how much 6g bcaa is and how much is on top, probably the leucine, it's not too bad at all...

It wasn't much more of one than I normaly have with the Agmatine, but it was there. I'm sure it's due to the addition of citrulline. The old Assault used to do virtually nothing for me inregards to pump (before I started taking agmatine), but I definitely noticed a little more vascularity.
Noticed a better mood now that you mention it. Infact, I think I forgot to take my 5-htp yesterday and was fine.

EDIT: WTF it's cheaper to buy four of the 8 serving samples than to buy the 32 serving Assault - and that's including shipping too.

Agreed. The formula changes look fine, but losing out on 8 servings is a big deal, especailly when the old formula is still readily available for ~26 on other sites. I have been through a couple tubs of Assault and like it, but I won't take a loss on servings.

CL did the smart thing - updated formula AND flavors for White Flood AND kept the same price.

I just found out that Assault has 6 grams BCAA per FULL SCOOP. So if you want the advertised 6g BCAA, 5g creatine, 4g Beta Alanine, and 1.5g Citruline Malate per serving then one tub's only gunna last you just over 2 weeks. Outrageous. But hey, it's good ****.

If you had 5 workouts a week it would last you 3 weeks with a full scoop serving. Assault doesn't need to be taken on off-days, and I honeslty only use a full scoop serving when I'm liftin back or legs.

This, plus it's one of the very few pre's on the market with a solid dose of bcaa at even half scoop.

We usually always have some sort of deal going on in the store, whether it be buy 2 get 1 free, buy 1 product get another free, etc. This Assault/Armor-V deal is a steal! Hopefully this will bring about some awareness to Armor-V and people start seeing what a solid multi this is.

The New Assault is great. I loved the old Assault but with the addition of BCAAs and astragin your getting a steal of a deal with only paying $34.99.

Also you can get a Free bottle of Armor V with purchase of the new Assault. Once again MP changing the game, great job guys.
