Attempted 135 today but couldn't get my chin over the bar. Maybe its my form, I haven't been doing pull ups lately.

I'm 128lbs and I regularly do 45lb weighted pullups x 10. What kind of number am I going to need to place/be competitive. I think I could easily throw on 70lbs and get at least one.

Enter a video and find out. Your not competitive if you dont enter.

Excuse the low quality
So with the belt and shoes on i weigh 158
I added 100 pounds
No shoes, no belt i weigh 154.5

so 258/154.5 = 167%

lol i know, but come on, theres no doubt from that video that i can actually do it
i obviously had really poor helpers and equipment
If i win and peope arent happy ill borrow somebodys camera or something and make a better video
wouldnt mind getting those reps youre talking about tho.....

and there is alot of doubt thats why in Extremist's demo video it says it has to be from the front

and your gonna have to do well over +100 to win lol

Are we doing ONE pullup with as high weight as possible around waist and then its divided by our weight ?

Yes, 1 pull up with as much as you can do from a dead hang and getting your chin over the bar. For example, if you did a pull up with 105lbs added to you and you weighed 150lbs at the time, that would be 170% of your body weight. Highest % wins.

You can calculate the % as follows.

(weight added + body weight)/body weight *100 = your %

(105 + 150)/150 * 100 = 170%

Damn and I'm always btching that I can't do a full pullup/chinup (by full I mean from all the way down) at 230lbs.

Did my first EVER pullup just a week ago and it feels amazing. Can't wait 'till I can add weights!

dam some of the #s are scaring me ITT. Considering my weight would I stand a chance at 150% for the <169 weight class? Or should I not even bother.

just curious brahs, im in the range of 12-15 reps with my bodyweight for pullups, what would that equate to if i was gonna add say a 45lb plate for reps? like 3?

if youre 5'7" and 150lbs, and you can only do 12 pullups, id say like 4 or 5 reps with the 45lbs

Why couldn't it be total weight lifted including body weight.

Someone 200 lbs + doing weighted pullups is much more impressive than someone who's 165

think about it, if you weigh 200lbs and its all biceps and lats, you have a huge advantage over someone my weight
one pound of muscle can lift more than one pound right?

% is pretty fair, its never going to be perfect but this is the terms at least there are three weight classes

This thread is strong motivation. Just recently started being able to do pullups on my own. I can get like 4 good form ones knocked out with wide grip. Gotta start somewhere...
