Shortness of breath, fast heartbeat, sweating, and shaking?(srs)

    What is this?
In any pressure situation this happens. I dont know why.
When i am at work and make a mistake, when i have to do something quickly, when i have to talk in front of people, etc
I dont know how to stop it.
I feel fine right before doing these things, but when i am in the situation, it just happens.

I even have trouble playing sports because i get so tired so quickly

    I dunno what to do.

    Any suggestions?

People can have panic attacks everyday, multiple times a day. They arent a medical condition, it is a bodies response to the fight or flight reactions. Your body just over reacts and goes into a panic. They arent serious but can definitely be disruptive.

He is obviously thinking of SSRI's/Benzo's to stop your anxiety/panic attacks. Beta-blockers at such a low dose (10mg) can be used for years without any negative effects, and they control the physical symptoms. Benzo's are apparantely addictive which is why doctors are reluctant to prescribe them as they can't be used long term (few weeks max without risking withdrawals when coming off them). But benzo's only stop the mental side of things anyway. I've been on 4mg Valium and still felt as bad, and 1mg Ativan and still felt as bad as I did without anything. 10mg propranolol which is the lowest possible dose = no physical symptoms at all.

Sounds like a panic attack. I used to get those back in middle school. In my case it first started out like I skipped a breath, then it was followed by rapid heartbeat. My heart would beat so fast that I couldn't even count it srs. Sucks because I got rushed to a hospital over that crap thinking it was a heart attack and it took my family a long time to pay that off...

Btw I know some people say that panic attacks aren't serious, but isn't it bad for the heart to work that fast? I mean my heart was beating faster than anything I experienced before; even when I do intense exercise my heart doesn't beat that fast.

so it helped with the physical problems like the shaking, heart rate and ****, but not the mental stuff?
like it didnt help you feel more calm or anything?

could your thyroid be a cause of this?

Yeah. And obviously I was mentally calm because I was physically calm if that makes sense. I was only scared of the symptoms themselves and not the situations that they occured in. If you're feeling physically fine then there's no reason why you would feel mentally bad. Pretty sure thyroid isn't a cause.

No its just your nervous system over-reacting. Can be fixed with relaxation methods or meds like SSRI's. I am an extreme hypochondriac and have panic attacks with things relating to my health. I currently take a SSRI to help the problem. When you start having one of these just try to take a walk and take deep breaths. This is what i always did. Helps calm the symptoms quicker.

Yep. Anxiety causes the nervous system to react and produce an increase in the brains dopamine, etc levels. Your receptors increase as well and your body panics.

Because alot of people are misdiagnosed, regular doctors aren't really clued up to mental health problems. I was clinically diagnosed for 2 years as having IBS before I started researching my symptoms myself seeing as most of my anxiety symptoms are gastrointestinal, until one day it hit me that there was a connection between where I was and symptoms and realised it was anxiety/panic attacks. So if I didn't do that, I still to this day wouldn't be diagnosed with panic disorder. Also doctors/psychiatrists like to prescribe SSRI's, I told them specifically I didn't need anything for the mental side as I was completely fine with panic attacks and they didn't bother me mentally, I just wanted to stop the physical symptoms and then I was instantly written a script for 90 propranolol tablets and they have worked wonders.

Edit: Also, I was prescribed 40mg propranolol, but I thought that dosage was a bit too high so I decided to try 10mg by splitting it into 1/4's and 10mg worked for me, so don't just jump on a big dose/what you're prescribed straight away as it could cause some bad side effects. (Assuming you get put on beta-blockers).

School started back up. No more miscing all summer from the safety of indoors. I feel bad for the people who can't get put on meds for this. When your face is beat red and your sweating chances are your BP is spiking to extremely high levels. Mine was always like that until i got on beta-blockers/klonopin.

bisoprolol=5mg. Only have to take once a day. Propranolol didn't do anything for me and i hated the constant dosing every few hours.

I feel bad for people who instantly jump on meds for the issue. I use to be on paxil and regret it. Good look with keeping your sanity when you come off them.

bisoprolol=5mg. Only have to take once a day. Propranolol didn't do anything for me and i hated the constant dosing every few hours.
The people who cant get on meds just need to enroll in college. Swear college health centers will give you any meds you want even if all you have is some dumb, made-up story. I know people that get meds and excuses from exams and such by simply faking a mental breakdown.

dude! paxil is the only ssri that keeps my panic attacks at bay. i was on 60mg at one point! then i thought i was cured and came off it. The brain zaps were fun and random feeling of vertigo. Got put on celexa and that was like a sugar pill. now i'm back at 30 mg paxil and will stop at 40mg i think. Thats the preferred dose for panic attacks.
