Not including the honeymoon.
Getting married to my best friend and fiancé next year.
Dated 4 years and have been engaged since Sept.
So happy! But also don't wanna spend a fortune on a wedding. Her parents are paying for the dress and church. I have to pay for everything else. Saw somewhere the average is 30k, however co-workers say they averaged about 10k.

Statistics can be easily skewed, not only that, it's not exactly the best way to gauge the efficiency of every scenario or choice you make. Besides, if you really want to stalk 'statistics' don't forget a big portion of that number includes the marriages between people who clearly were not compatible from the start. If I was even forget marriage and just do a standard relationship, even then statistics show them to have an extremely high 'failure' rate. Guess I should avoid relationships based on some 'statistics' right bud?

It's going to cost as much as you are both prepared to spend. If you want to take the cheap option, shop around and cut out chit you don't absolutely need. If you have an unlimited budget, go nuts. Just remember that whatever you don't spend on the wedding can be spent on the honeymoon.

We had a big ceremonious wedding planned and was going to cost close to $45K, so we decided to get married in Jamaica at Sandals Whitehouse, and had a small reception upon our return. Cost $15K ish.

Just got married in August. Honestly, I don't have an exact number. But I do know we saved a ton of money by doing much of the decorations ourselves. If I had to guess, we spent around 20k, but also had some very good hookups (very cheap reception area, sister works for a DJ company so we got a huge discount, free videographer, etc). The biggest money saver - we didn't do any flowers other than her bouquet.
It all depends what you two are looking for. If you want more of the traditional ballroom-type venue with the "usual" stuff, there will be a pretty consistent price floor. If you choose to have it at more of a casual location like a restaurant, someones house, etc then your price floor will obviously be considerably less. And then you have the higher end venues like museums, high end hotels, landmarks that will make your costs skyrocket.
There are literally endless options you can add. The number of guests is also going to determine a lot of it. We chose to keep ours relatively small and had just over 100 guests. Once we got that number, it helped rule out some of the really small or really big options.
Also, costs for us in Chicago will probably be higher than they will be for you in Texas, so I'm hesitant to even give you price examples.

This. We eloped at the beach with our daughter and my best friend and his girlfriend as witnesses and were in and out in no time. Used the wedding money from my folks for the deposit on our house. We weren't ever big on marraige( or the extreme expenses) in the first place but decided to do it. Would never spend a fortune on a marraige ceremony.

Probably around $20k. We married young and my father in law paid for it. We both have big families, but my wife tried to be considerate about cost. I stayed the fuk out of 90% of the decisions.
I went to my cousin's wedding this weekend. I could see it easily costing $50k or so. They had about 300 people and it was very nicely done. I'm not sure who was paying for that one.
