I have a teammate who runs the 100 meters in 12.01 seconds. We don't do 40 times here so I'm wondering does anyone know about what he runs?

100 Meter times to 40 yard dash times

hard to tell.. people accelerate differently, top off differently etc than others
but 12 is pretty slow.. i'd say if i had to guess around a high 4 to 5ish seconds 40 yards

no higher than 4.9. I ran 12 sec 100's and I was a distance runner.

You can't really relate the two or convert one time into the other. The 100m sprint is much more about maintaining maximum speed for as long as possible than the 40 yard dash where that is less important.
E.g. Usain Bolt is a slow starter. He may have the highest 100m time in the world but over 40, other sprinters with greater acceleration might win out.
