Hello,
I am currently following Kris Gethin's program. It's very strict and it includes split cardio, lifting routines and clean eating. I have recently purchased a waist trimmer ( Gold's Gym Neoprene ) which I wear during my cardio sessions. I have only used it twice and I do see that it does make me sweat and I don't know if this is my imagination but I have seen a reduction in my waist these past couple of days.
Does anyone have experience with using these to see if they work? What is your opinion with this?
I appreciate any imput that I can get.
Thank you

Two things here.
First, compression will push fluids out of a space and in to another. Basically, you're moving the water from your waist to other areas, and its temporary.
Second, excessive sweating during a workout is a bad thing. There are a lot of good articles about the subject. Bottom line is, we don't lose more fat from sweating, we only dehydrate ourselves. Keep your body cool and better things will come about, like longer, more intense training sessions etc.One party system; Most Republicans are Democrats, but no Democrats are Republicans.

Lets think this through.
It you could just wrap something around your waist to lose weight then why would the government spend billions of dollars treating and researching obesity?
Why wouldnt they just give everyone a thing to wrap around their waists?"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. Thank you very much for the responses guys. I appreciate you taking the time to share your opinion. It helps a lot.
The concept seemed enticing for a moment; but you guys are correct, it's fluid loss which will be regained after hydration takes place.

I love my Neoprene shorts. They are great for helping the skin "Tighten-Up" after weight loss in the over 40 crowd.
I knew a guy who wore a shorty wet suit when he worked out to help his skin "Tighten-Up". He swore by it claimed it saved him thousand in plastic suregery bills after his 250+ pound weight loss.
I have read a really good article about how this helps the skin cells get used to pumping the water in and out. As you age your skin slowly loses this ability, and these neoprene belts/shorts will actually help your skin cells stretch back (Tighten-Up).
If you were say 19 I would say these waist trimmers are a sham for you, but if you are over 35 and want to tighten your skin up, then these Neoprene belts and shorts actually do have a purpose.
Spot reducing NO, but Skin tightening YES!

I also read yesterday a very good article on Scammer's Weekly how sitting on top of this new patented heating device (trademark name is The Heater) will help mobilize fat from selected areas. Thus, you can sit on your ass all day watching TV while eating donuts and also be shaping up, toning up, tightening up and desiccating up your derriere so long as you are sitting on top of the The Heater. The article was very good, the guy selling it was a chiropractor who also talked about spinal alignment being the biggest disease in modern world and how, funnily enough, spinal misalignment leads to increased fat deposition on one's ass!
On another note, I always thought skin elasticity was determined by elastin and collagen structures, I am sure Scammer's Weekly has a back issue article on this same topic, I will make sure I read it!
Seriously now, question everything that you read, especially if it is trying to sell you something. The only mainstream product which is proven to repair skin damage (which is what loose skin is) is tretinoin, and the results are very mild and the product needs to be applied under the supervision of a dermatologist for at least a year.

She's only 23. She should have plenty of elastin in her skin. She certainly doesn't look obese. I don't think she has to help her skin tighten up.
If there's any legitimate benefit to these neoprene wonders, it's probably to gently wrap and insulate a mildly injured area of the body to keep it warm in combination with the use of a counter-irritant muscle rub.
Otherwise, I'd return them.

I couldn't find the article I was refering to, but it was not trying to sell anything.
Here is another user with their explanation of the Tightening-Up effect of neoprene Belts and shorts.
\---------------------------------------------------------------------
If you have a lot of weight to lose they CAN help your body flush excess water/fluid from tissues.
Your body relies on the pumping action of muscles and taught skin to push excess fluid into the lymph nodes so it can be flushed out. If you lose a lot of weight, your skin is going to be loose, it's not going to provide any compression against the muscles, and fluid ends up pooling in the loose tissue.
You're not going to burn any extra fat, but by wearing compression garments on a regular basis, you're helping loose skin to retract, if it's a problem for you.

They really work for a lot of things, I wrap them around my head like a ninja when trying to ponder difficult questions. The increased blood flow to the head makes a big difference, it's like my thinking cap....

How could it take you five minutes to cook your grits when it takes the entire grit-eating world 20 minutes? Are we to believe that boiling water soaks into a grit faster in your kitchen than any place on the face of the earth? Perhaps the laws of physics cease to exist on your stove. Were these magic grits? Did you buy them from the same guy who sold Jack his beanstalk beans?

Just curious but would the belt giving increased circulation to that area help you to metabolize fat from your stomach. Seeing as how your stomach area retains fat because of poor circulation to that area.
