You'll see diminishing returns running a high volume program like Smolov Jr. back-to-back ... maybe run a single 5/3/1 cycle (including deload, so all 4 weeks) before hitting another Smolov Jr. cycle again? Might get an extra couple pounds out of SJR that way, not entirely sure.

EDIT: FWIW, I've run SJR multiple times back-to-back and went from 210 to 240 in 3 cycles so who knows.

Would you suggest lowering your max BP by let's say 10% when calculating SJR?

I had many troubles when I tried it.

I don't, but then again, I only do 5lb increments every week instead of 10-15 lbs like the program usually calls for.

No, you don't lift but that's okay.
“Go back?" he thought. "No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!" So up he got, and trotted along with his little sword held in front of him and one hand feeling the wall, and his heart all of a patter and a pitter.”

In that case, if you wanted to 5/3/1 and SJR, might I suggest something like this:
    • Nov - Smolov Jr.
    • Dec - 5/3/1
    • Jan - 5/3/1
    • Feb - 5/3/1
    • Mar - Smolov Jr.

... basically, do a SJR cycle, run 5/3/1 a bit to get some long-term gains out of it, then run SJR again if you want to. I saw in your that you were thinking of doing board presses, that could be done on your first SJR day if you really wanted to do them, otherwise just hold off on them until 5/3/1.

x3 What do you dl/sqt/bench anyway?

On the plus... LP is still working on GBR... Could be at a 315 squat in a few months. Maybe not for reps and sets, but maybe one or two sets of 5.

I like a more hybrid stance. I would think wearing briefs (geared lifting) would help when going toes to plate wide.

Might want to consider losing the straps until you hit some really heavy deads. They're only a crutch for weak forearm/grip strength IMO. I do use straps but only when I'm maxing out or hitting a heavy last set.

If you can hold onto it, leave the straps at home.

^^^ BY sticking your ass out as early as you are you make experience some back problems as you progress to heavier weight. The ass going out is great, but should be a progressive thing....not ass first and then drop the ass.

Your hips are coming up dramatically early on your deadlifts in my opinion. I would try lifting up your chest from the beginning of the movement. Leg/hip lock out should be at about the same time.

Right on, i want to get my form down before i go any heavier so thanks for the heads up. rep'd Do you think i should slow the movement down? I feel like if i dont start my ass moving back first that i wind up leaning foreward.

    edit: on spread

I was under the assumption you shouldnt move the hips until the bar is past the knee. Thats why i move the way i do.

But your hips should not be the first thing rising. Meaning your hips are coming up 5-6 inches before the weight moves at all. I think starting in a less squatted position might fix that.
