that pwo 30 min window is a myth the supplement industry made to market their stuff. my lifting partners jacked up and has gone 4 hrs pwo without food. but if you must then food is best pwo nothing better to grow muscle than eating natural muscle from animal meats. imho is that with shakes or aminos is that you piss all of it out. but hey its just advice.
I dont believe in quit, true strength pushes on.

A couple things man,Immedicatly after a workout you should spike your insuline with a simple carb intake of sugar, and you should also replenish your glycogen cells with complex carbs bread ...not so good dude haha, try sweet potatoes, purple potatoes,or oats or rice. 45 minutes after is when you should have your protien shake becuase all the nutrients from the carbs with be absorbed and your blood sugar levels will be down. Hope it helps !

^^ That is a load of unnecessary crap. That is what is called bro-science. Whenever someone talks about spiking insulin, ask then how much of a spike they need and what the goal is in spiking. They will almost never be able to answer the first question, and the second one will probably have a bunch of double-talk.
OP, you can have a shake if you want and if it is easy and convenient, but it will NOT give you any better results from a body comp standpoint than an equivalent caloric/macro of whole food. Think about nutrition from a daily goal standpoint rather than how each specific meal must be comprised.

You've just spent about an hour or so on the weights, breaking down proteins in your body, so you take a protein shake to replenish these stores. You're claiming that for some reason your body would piss it out? Where's the sense in that? I genuinely want to know btw, there's so many myths around pwo nutrition and i want to know the reasons behind your opinion (I'm not saying its wrong).

Either, neither or both. They are your three options and they will all have the same effect. It's your personal preference.
I agree with almost everything you said except that shakes or AA's will be pissed out. They can still be useful, just not necessary.
How about no.
Read these studies, if you still think there is an "30 minute anabolic window", then you need some srs helpz.

I find it rather interesting that people usually believe their stomachs are COMPLETELY EMPTY when their leave the gym (while this might be the case for those that train fasted), most people do not. So why the **** should I spent big dolla on Whey protein ISOLATE, which is the fastest absorbing protrein out there hurrrhurr. I got plenty of **** already in my stomach getting absorb at x/hour. How the **** is adding isolate going to help?

I would always do your best to get all of your calories and macronutrients from whole food, and healthy food (for health reasons, won't really affect body comp), and then go to bad \processed foods, then shakes.
just my opinion though, they all have the same affect on body comp, but some choices are healthier than others.
and I just eat a big meal before my workout, so i don't have to worry about post-workout. But, im usually starving after a workout, and take a shake with food"If death is victory; how afraid of life can we be?"
