Events
14" Monster DB Press
170ish x 2 (tons and tons of times)
190 x 0
*Almost there with contest weight. Not stable enough at lockout.
Yoke
300 x 160'
500 x 160'
700 x 80'
800 x 40'
*Came back quickly here. I think that is actually the farthest I have made it with 800. No drops in the 40'. I will do alright at the contest weight I think.
Stones
*to 54", chalk only
240 x 3 (5 sets)
300 x 1
Weight Over Bar
56 x 12'
*Took about 8 tries to get it over, but I cleared it handily when I got it down. Just for goofing off.]
Much, much cooler day (this was Saturday). Was fairly smooth training.Strongman Training Log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=138026593

Find one and do it. I had no idea what to do, found a contest somewhat close by and competed in the Novice class. Got some good there and more since then. Best bet is to find a training crew near you to see if you can train with them. Startingstrongman.com is the best resource for getting started.

You can thank Thad for introducing me to the terror of the farmer walk - I will never mock your workouts again.
Is the strategy for a full strongman contest just to find a happy place and pretend everything doesn't feel like ass?New log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=144101461

Without trying to sound like some badass, you really have to just embrace the pain and look forward to it, then find happiness in not giving into an event and triumphing upon completion. If you think farmer's walk is bad....give yoke a go.

No, I absolutely guessed that's kind of what you have to do. Powerlifting it's just one lift, and you can either get or not or maybe grind one out for maybe 5-7 seconds. Trying to continue to hold on to the handles of those farmers walks while I felt like my calluses were going to rip off was brutal. But I also have child like hands.

Yup. Then you get the feeling that your hands cannot properly open after squeezing for so long. After a heavy, grinding yoke walk, it is stuff to stand up straight. Promoters who put a deadlift after a yoke should be shot.
I bet.
13-14' should be feasible seeing as how you release at about 12'.Strongman Training Log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=138026593

Squats
SSB Squats
*Wrapped
360 x 1
390 x 1
420 x 2
260 + 90c x 5 (3 sets, paused with sleeves only)
*Was going to work up to a heavy single. My left hamstring was feeling funny and my lower back was really tight. Decided to shoot for a moderate single at 4 plates and it was easy, so I hit a double. Probably had a few more. Cut some weight, added chains and took off the wraps to hit some volume.
Oly Shoe Sumo SLDL
405 x 8 (2 sets)
405 x 12
*This sucked....bad.
GHR
BW x 8 (3 sets)
Abs
Planks
BW x 30 sec (3 sets)
Another late start. Didn't get through with warmups and what not until about 8:45 or so.
^^^^statement from last week, but it applies to today as well. Gotta figure out how to get out of work earlier on Mondays.

Press
Axle Strict Press
200 x 4
220 x 2, +4 push
*Axle was on tires and the tires didn't rotate. It was a bastard to clean and kinda tough to press....but in the end I think 220 for a double is a PR. 200 x 4 definitely is.
30* Paused Incline Bench
225 x 2 (3 sets)
Standing DB Shoulder Press
55 x 15 (3 sets)
Lateral Raises
35 x 12 (2 sets)
45 x 10, 35 x 10, 25 x 10, 15 x 10 (big drop set)
Abs
Planks
BW x 35 sec (3 sets)
Not bad. Went to a Strength Haven to train today. It is a gym about 10 miles East of me that is promoting a contest on August 23 that I will compete in. It is a rather light contest and I have a female coworker that is interested in competing. I wanted to show her a few of the implements there and let her see that it really isn't that intimidating. She smoked a 300 lb yoke for like 150', pressed a 110 log for a few sets of 5 and pulled 300 x 3 on an axle from 18". She will probably do fine if she goes through with it.Strongman Training Log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=138026593

Deadlift
4" Block Deadlift
495 x 1
545 x 1
585 x 1
625 x 1
565 x 3
505 x 10
Chest Supported Rows
135 x 15 (3 sets)
GHR
BW + Avg x 5 (3 sets)
Lat Pulldowns ss with GHRs
200 x 10/BW x 8 (3 sets)
Abs
Planks
BW x 40 sec (3 sets)
Again, not too bad, but feel as though I could have done better. Pulling from the blocks felt weird, but was able to get a decent weight up. Back down sets after the heavy work were....fun????

Events
12" Log Clean and Press
215 x 1
235 x 1
255 x miss
185 x 6....then a near catastrophic event.
*I am having a few issues I haven't mentioned much about. My left shoulder is in bad shape. I am having a tough time keeping my elbows up and a tight rack position without great pain and lack of function from the shoulder. This has been an issue with the log for about 5-6 weeks and is now getting very impeding.
Farmer's Walk
210 x 150'
260 x 150'
310 x 75' (two runs)
*Not too bad. Wanted more, but that was all for the day.
Prowler
180 x 100' (4 trips)
Wasn't in the best condition for an events session today. Shoulder aside, sleep all week has been minimal. Don't think I was hydrated as much as I could have been. Was shaking very bad on 255 and even 235 was impacted. Just felt really weak and my performance concurs with the feeling. Sucked.

Holy sh¡t that was almost very bad. I feel you on the lack of sleep. I've felt like crap and you've been working more than me. Inb4 Chris (but he doesn't count since he just trains PL)
