    Can I work out twice.

I love to workout and I love the way it feels. I wish i could work =out all day long but i can't because I am trying to gain muscle and I hear cortisol is bad for that. So can I work out for 1 hour, take a 3 hour break, then come back and work out for 1 hour again??? My goal is mass gaining and I am only 125lbs at age 17. I drown myself with protein and calories. I've had probably 2,000 calories today and I still have dinner left which will probably be chicken and potatoes.

optimal growth in size&strength occurs when you are training as frequently as you can while giving your muscles ample rest. Working out twice a day is fine but not for the same muscle groups.

lifting twice a day isnt a good idea. But I think doing cardio once a day, and lifting once a day seperately is a good idea.

Well should I have so much energy after a workout. Yeah my body gets sore during a workout but 5 minutes later I feel like I didnt even workout. I workout as hard as i can though.

Your body should be sore the next day - That is all that matters. You can't expect to be sore for the rest of the day after you work out - that usually does not happen.
