Was doing push presses for a while and never had any problems. Switched over to military presses and every time i lift up i get this burning sensation on my right shoulder that goes down to my tricep. To the point where i feel like i have to put more weight on the left or else something will just snap. I don't even go that wide on them and when i switch back to push press and keep my arms narrow and elbows forward i still get the pain. Never get it doing any other type of shoulder exercises though, which is weird. I know i have to just lay off them for a while, should i lighten the load and see if that helps or switch to dumbbells or will that just keep adding to the problem in the long run. Sort of feels like an impingement.
Well, just got a workout in and wanted to see what else bothered it (using light weight of course) dumbell flyes WRECKED it! when lowering the weight, even not going down too low it was KILLING me. Nothing else seemed to aggravate it as much as that and presses though. So any ideas on what this could most likely be? i know none of you can see inside and tell me lol , but any guesses on what it sounds like? (please don't say rotator cuff) I'm going to give a sports doc a call on Monday
It could be a few things Steve. It might be a bone spur that is cutting into your rotator cuff. A shoulder specialist can see bone spurs from an Xray. Make sure you don't go to a general sports doctor or you will waste your time. Take the weekend to google and search for shoulder specialist in your area if you want to know what's really going on. Good luck.
