So I've always been big into lifting. I've been lifting weights for over 2 years now, and have always done a bit of running as well (Favorite form of cardio). I'm about 5' 9", 135-140 lbs., very lean (Not weak though, I can bench 225, squat 250, dead lift 250), yet I'm built pretty well given I only weigh that much... Anyways, I've recently began to run longer distances and I'm starting to like running a lot.
I'm wondering if a diet high in protein (At least 1-1.5 x LBM) would be good for helping me maintain my muscle as I continue to run longer distances? Or any other diet suggestions...?
Also, is there a specific type of weight lifting that helps runners maintain muscle? I know it'd be difficult to build muscle, but I feel that my running goals are more important to me than my lifting goals as of right now.
If anyone could offer some advice that would be great!
Thanks!
