In the werdum fight is a bad example imp. Overeem wasn't thinking about anything at all but avoiding the ground. Of course he wants to stay on his feet against brock to but eerdum slammed takedowns and flopped to his back so much reel was thinking about that and only that. I don't think brock will be able to get reel off gaurd as much and i think reel will worry more about defending punches from brock then werdum since he probably thought werdum posed no threat whatsoever.
you wanna know how i did it, this is how, i never saved anything for the swim back.

I don't understand why so many of you are utterly confident that Brock will defeat Overeem. Have you all forgotten what a little bitch Brock is when he gets hit in the face? Are you blanking out the fact that Brock turtled up against Carwin and Cain? And neither Carwin nor Cain are at the level of Overeem's striking. If you think Cain beat Brock bad, just wait till you see what Ubereem does.
The more mass you have, the more ass you get.
The more cash you make, the more class you get.

I do wonder how Brock is going to weather out the match, especially if Overeem continually get's Brock into the clinch and either keeps throwing knee's or short jab's into he's stomach / kidney area.
What with him having surgery in that area to remove those 12" of colon. I wonder if Brock will be able to withstand getting hurt/injured from continual knee's etc
especially if he turtle's up all overeem will need to do is concentrate on inflicting as much damage/pain into those area's brock will be nuetralized i think.

I'm not confident in either guy, and I'm not sure why anyone else would be. Both guys could be on Dancing with the Stars. One has perfect break dancing, and the other has perfected the Running Man.
Not sure why you lump Cain and Overeem together. The skillsets aren't similar at all. Cain and Carwin aren't at the level of Overeem's striking, but neither is Werdum. Cain and Carwin are proactive, Overeem is reactive. He's a counter puncher.

Lord Lemon is the biggest Lesnar nuthugger on here, so I'm pretty sure he is laughing at me saying Lesnar is going to lose to Overeem. You must not know Lemon good enough.
Before you say something about "O, that's Mark Hunt, he sucks", don't forget about Lesnar's amount of wins before his fights with Mir.1 Stripe Blue Belt, Gracie Barra BJJ (Reps to BJJ/MMA brahs)

That doesn't change my point at all. There is nothing to suggest that Overeem is a stronger, more aggressive submission guy from his back then Frank Mir. It doesn't matter his amount of wins before Mir, that doesn't apply to today.
Every competent to even marginal grappler has subbed Mark Hunt. And that is Overeem's only sub from his back. You don't think that speaks volumes
I know Lemon, and I guarantee that's why he's laughing.

Brock is patient, Brock is kind. He does not envy, he does not boast, he is proud. He is not rude, he is not self-seeking, he is not easily angered, he keeps no record of wrongs. Brock does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Brock always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Brock never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection of Ubereem as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now we know in part, after the Werdum fight; but we shall know fully, and Uber will be fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and Brock. But the greatest of these is Brock. 1 Corinthians 13:4

lets be serious for a sec
I like brock have since he joined the ufc and dominated. He was the best athlete to ever enter the octagon and his progress in such a short time will never be emulated again.
he has not been the same since his life threatening illness. He has had inconsistent training for a few years and is mentally not the same person, a disease that nearly kills you can change you mentally. He is coming into this fight again being out of training for a long time, overeem has been fighting more consistently then any other hw.
Given this fact I think overeem is just going to destroy a out of shape and rusty lesnar. Lesanr needs to build himself up again with lower level competition, not be fed top contenders every fight while trying to get back into a groove. I would have loved to have seen this fight after he demolished mir the 2nd time, but now I think overeem will beat him easily. You just can't shoot in on overeem from far away and expect a easy takedown, that just does not happen especially with a guy as tall and experienced as overeem. He will hit lesnar often early and lesnar will panic because he is rusty and get tko'd. He has an iron chin so I don't see him being ko'd but I do see the fight being stopped with overeem on top.updated 2011

I think Brock should be rematched with someone who he has a chance of beating......fighters like bj penn or roy nelson.
Chucking him into a cage with a locked door with Reem and a out of shape sloth of a referee = death for farmboy by shattered skull from elbows.
No amount of GH injections are going to be able to save him from that.

I didn't read the whole thread but I am familiar with the match at hand.
My questions are:
Why the hell is a non-title match 5 rounds?
What the hell has Brock been doing that he has a fight this soon? Last I heard (2weeks ago) he has been farming in Canada up til now, there is no way in hell after such a long break that he is going to get in-shape, in-tune, and gain some type of experiance to benifit against Overeem.
And Dec 30th, is it a ppv or what?
Btw, I am a Brock Lesnar fan. But as of right now, I'm saying Brock is out by round 2 by KO

I like Brock's chances to win this fight. While he got lubed and raped by both Carwin and Cain on the feet it only happened after he realized he couldn't out-wrestle them. He got a decent takedown attempt on Carwin that was stuffed and managed to get Cain down but couldn't control him. Overeem is going to have the survive/neutralize that initial attack. I don't think he can..

Faces a decent boxer with heavy hands: Turtles up and gets a kunt hair away from getting TKO'd
Faces a decent/good boxer with heavy hands: Turtles up and gets put away in no time flat
And now he's facing a K1 champion. I'm sure Lesnar's really gonna turn it around on this one. Considering 'Reems sprawl made Werdum look like a total amateur, and he gets guillotines easier than Africans get AIDS, I don't see what makes people think Lesnar's double leg is the antidote to Overeem's total package.Near, far, wherever you are...

Once more, you open the door.
And you're here in my heart.
And my heart will go on and on.

I need to save this thread before the fight. Lots of folks going to be eating crow when their God Reem is destroyed. By a WWF wrestler. With a cock on his chest.
Yes Brock is very punch shy and if Reem can land a good shot before Brock gets the TD I'm sure we'll see Brock go back on his heels, turtle up and the fight will be over.
This isn't K-1 folks, how short a memory do you have? Overeem doesn't make people with good standup look bad (like AS does), he is going to be VERY concerned about stopping the TD. I would giggle until I pissed myself if Brock knocks him out. But that probably won't happen so I'm going to say GnP to death by the 2nd.
EDIT...that video was just the third round. I'll see if I can find a good video showing how ****ty his standup looked against Werdum. No av LEO crew

When's the last time Overroid faced a good wrestler? How well can we say for certain that his td defense is? Is it better than Mir's? Herring's? Cain's? Couture's? I say no.
How about Overroid's cardio? His last quality opponent was Werdum and he looked terrible in that fight. Werdum wasn't even good enough for the UFC and Overroid couldn't finish him.
Other victories? Cro Can (LOL), Brett Rogers (also LOL) and Duffee (glass chin). Not really that impressive.
Lesnar on the other hand has been been fighting at the HIGHEST level since coming to the UFC. Sure he took a beating from Cain and Carwin, but in the Carwin fight he weathered the storm and came back to win. I'm pretty sure Carwin hits just as hard as Overroid, maybe harder. And although he got stomped by Cain, he at least got him down. What's Overroid going to if Lesnar gets him down?
Another big factor in this fight is going to be cardio. Lesnar is a naturally big guy with great cardio from years of wrestling and train. Overroid's not "naturally" as big as Brock and his heart is going to have to work really hard to keep his big oversized body going at that pace. His cardio has always been a problem, even when he was lighter (see fights with Sergei, Liddell, Shogun). I frankly can't see how it's not going to be more of an issue with him carrying all of this extra muscle mass. The longer the fight goes, big advantage to Lesnar.
Lesnar has the tools to take Overroid OUT. He's got the wrestling, the cardiovascular fitness, the strength, submissions. It's his fight to lose."Pain hurts, lemme tell ya. It can ruin your whole day." -Bill "Superfoot" Wallace
