    Deadlift Jack

I've decided to invest in a deadlift jack. I was under the impression that the West Cary deadlift jack was one of the better ones out there now. Does anyone else have any suggestions for options. I'd just like to know what else is out there before I make the purchase.

    Thanks in advance.

Someone here just made a homemade deadlift jack. I think it was jfindon. Let me look around the forum and I'll post back an edit if I find it.

EDIT: Here's a pic of it. Looks pretty cool.

I have the the Mini-Deadlift Jack from West Cary Barbell and it's well-made and make's my life with training more efficient. If their Deadlift Jack is the same quality as the mini one it's a good piece plus West Cary Barbell will get it to you fast (I think I had my deadlift jack within three days of ordering). I wouldn't hesitate to buy something else from them again if I needed it. Another company I thought of buying from was Jones County Combat...which at the time I was buying had a reasonably-priced jack. I can't seem to find their website so I'm not sure if they're still in business.

A while back I was going to buy the one from Jones County Combat and almost pulled the trigger (I sent them e-mails) and it turns out they had just went out of business. Yeah, I kick myself for not getting one of those.

Glad to hear that you like the one from West Cary.

Do you ever regret buying the mini jack over the full jack? The mini jack would be a lot easier to store. Just wondering what the benefits of the full jack are over the mini?

What's going on man.... I really like the mini deadlift jack too. The main benefit for the full one would be the ability to raise both sides at once. The big one would take up a lot more space and be kind of a pain to move around I think, the mini tucks away in the corner very easily when I don't need it.

I just put my j-hooks on the very lowest level inside the power rack...it keeps the bar and plates off the ground for deads and similar exercises...just a thought.

I think I might be leaning towards the mini.

I'll check into that, but I generally do the deadlifts outside the rack so that I don't have to move the bench (it weighs 250lbs)

If you deadlift alone then a mini is all you really need. You can only do 1 side at a time. The full size one we use weekly takes up alot of space even in a decent size gym.

Moving bench out of rack = 1 rep warm-up . For those with holes that go through the rack uprights, just move the j-hooks to the outside. I would guess that using the hooks is actually way easier to rack/unrack compared to these jacks.

If you don't mind making one then here's one that I made out of pipes.

    http://shoua59lo.blogspot.com/2011/0...lift-jack.html

There are similar homemade version ones out there but I added a long handle to mine so I don't have to bend down to use it. I'm lazy like that.

If I had the room (the space where I deadlift is not a lot) I would have gone with a full jack as I could lift the whole bar up instead of one side at a time (real minor reason). I am gradually cleaning out my training area (basement) where I be able to have a more dedicated deadlift area and I'll probably get the full jack at that point. However...I don't regret getting the mini-jack and, even if I got a full jack, I'd still keep it and use it when I go traveling and/or work out at a commercial gym.

I have the mini-jack from west cary, and it's great. If space is a non-issue, I'd certainly get the full jack, though.

I also have the mini from West Carry

    work's great so far

I was originally planning on getting the full size but didn't have the budget for it back when I bought this. although I'm happy that I got the mini one since it's easier to store this and I'm a bit OCD about arranging my stuff

    Udate

I went with the fullsize jack because I plan on purchasing some of the Pendlay Elite plates eventually and thought that it might be better to keep the bar completely level when loading the bar due to the tighter hole tolerances (I probably over thought this).I decided to go with the fullsize jack. It arrived today and I just got through assembling it.

Anyway, the jack is really nice. Quality welds and a nice paint job. I was also impressed with the packaging. These days it is rare that an order comes in without the finish being scratched due to poor packaging (so a very big plus in this category). I don't really have anything negative to say about the jack. I would however, like to get some adhesive backed rubber to cover the forks that come in contact with the bar. Anyone have any suggestions in this area?

The only downside to the full sized jack is that it is too wide to fit under my 5ft bar. Not that big of a deal since it doesn't hold that much weight. However, this might result in me ordering a mini jack in the future.

That's what I do. When I'm done I walk around and lift each side of the loaded bar one at a time onto the bar catches and then can unload the bar.
