Hi, I havent pushed heavy (by my standards) weights for a while now, mainly due to injury and partly to motivation. Now that these problems are gone I was wondering what would be the best way to get back to my old strength level.
For example i used to be able to squat 4 plates for a few reps but now im not sure I could do that once, max would be around 360-375 right now, and I could bench around 300, and right now it would probably be around 250-260. I was roughly planning my training for the next year, and told myself 3 to 6 months would be a good time frame to get back up there. I was wondering if doing SS, starting pretty low and working alot on getting back perfect form would be a good idea to ease back into the heavyweights. I could just also do a normal, rep to failure kinda split like I did for a looong while, or maybe some kind of 5x5 program. Any suggestions from people who have been in the same kind of situation?
