Exclamation Should I be drinking my protein shakes on my rest days?

I have started on a new mass gainer (obviously to gain muscle) and i was wondering if i should be having my shakes on my rest days? The reason i am asking this is because I want to know if it will be beneficial BUT i want to gain as little fat as possible. I already have a BFP of 15%

    Thanks guys

so wait... your drinking a mass gainer and dont want any fat gain? hahahahahaha

but i guess to answer your question find out your maintenance level and have 500 or less calories above that a day to not gain much fat

The rate of fat gain is determined by the size of the caloric surplus, not individual food choices.

OP, ditch the shakes altogether and get calories from whole foods. There's no need to fill up on empty calories from maltodextrin when you get them whole foods which will give you a much better blend of micronutrients.

If you have missed a meal and make sure you aren't over eating you will be fine to have the mass gainer shake once in a while but I would advise you to start counting calories if you are looking for a good lean bulk because it is hard to achieve without being sure on what macros you are consuming. As long as you take your weight gainer shake into consideration with the counting calories and make sure you are not over your macros you should be fine.

You should be more concerned about finding out your daily caloric and macronutrition requirements for your specific goals, then see how your mass gainer fits into that.

The reason a protein shake is so beneficial after a workout is because it is absorbed so quickly into the body. On rest days simply add up your calorie intake and see if you need more calories, carbs, protein etc and if you do take it, if not dont. I dont because I save money, but if I need a fast meal a protein shake in milk is a good replacement
