    Just ran a mile in 8:20 and its the first time running in about 6 months.

    Everything is relative, brah. Back in high school I ran sprints (hurdles, to be more specific), but when we would run the mile during practice I would hit a 6:30 pace. This was only average for the track team. Out in a non-competitive setting that would be quite good.

    Try to get down to 7 minutes flat.

    Haha, kinda funny how you said everything is relative and then you gave him a specific time to go after.

    Good for goal setting purposes, but what if he never gets there. If he only gets down to 7:30 per mile, would you still congratulate him?

    I ran a mile in 5m when I was 15, not sure how much worse I would be at it now since im a decent 50-60 pounds heavier and only a couple inches taller. Would prob say anything under 7.

    i was running 6 minutes miles earlier this year before i started bulking. it's pretty achievable (i went from 8:00 mile time to 6:00 mile time in about 3 months).

    i'd say a "good" mile time by most measures would be something in the 7's. like someone above me said, it's all relative.

    Brah that's a good time I average around 8 minute miles when I do 6 mile runs.

    I averaged just under 9 minute miles when I did a 13.5 mile run the other day and did it in 2hrs 5 what other people say they probably don't a lot.

    I hardly ever run though. Hate it, but not too bad at it.

    That's good enough for me to pass my PT tests here, so I'm good with it.

    breaking the 8-minute mark is considered being "fit". The equivalent of that is benching your own bodyweight once. Not bad for the average person, but you shouldn't just aim for that

    Fair enough, bro, and I believe you would.

    I guess my point was, you never know what peoples potential really is. You can see the passion and determination, but setting short term goals like sub 8minute is the best choice to keep peeps motivated and empowered that they are capable of improving.
