Number 2 is a pendlay row, number 1 is a bent over row. They're two different variations. I prefer number 1, though.

Ive been curious how others do them as well. From my own experience you can do more weight doing it like number 1. But with number 2 you can feel the back being worked alot more however i feel like number 2 puts more strain on your lower back so you have to handle a lighter amount of weight so that you dont hurt your back its a more advance workout I think because you can easly hurt yourself doing it like number 2 if not done with good form. But I like number 2, isolates my back alot more

what? pendlay rows are explosive from the ground. you can row with a controlled motion and return the bar to the floor, doesn't make it a pendlay row. http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/...ntOverRow.html
Recovered.

go to stronglifts:
Pendlay Row vs. Barbell Row. The bar returns to the floor after each rep.How to Pendlay Row. Well, the best way to do them is to start with the bar on the floor every single rep.The big difference between Pendlay and Barbell Rows, is that the bar returns to the floor on each rep with Pendlay Rows

And judging from the picture, it's on the floor, so i'm going to assume it's a pendlay like i previously stated. Once again, not a video

I like slow controlled pendlay rows feels like a isolation movement on my lats I like it alot. Normal rows i hate feels akward to me im actually a big fan of pendlay rows come to think of it lol Just i dont like how people think of it as a explosive exercise its much more of a isolation on lats to me slow up slow down doing 8-12 reps feels great

Number two looks more like a rear delt row, except rear delt rows go to above the nipps.
Number onne is great for back especially with slow controlled movement and that mind muscle connection and squeezing of the shoulder blades at the top of the ROM, actually gives me a pump lol.*** Misc CIGAR Crew ***(smoking avi sub crew)
