Deadlifts - can't get the hang of 'em

I've watched and re-watched the videos on here to see how to deadlift properly and I do fine until I get above 200lb at which point I just lose my technique and try to revert back to using my back instead of my legs to lift.

I know it's wrong, but the posture just feels wrong beyond a certain weight and I just can't do it:-((

I've only been doing them for a few weeks and I'm getting pretty annoyed that I can't progress with the weight. How often should I be able to up the weights on deadlifts, am I being too ambitious after a short time?

I'll persevere at the lower weights to try to master the technique but any more advice would be appreciated.

How often are you deadlifting? How much are you increasing the weight by each session?

I'm deadlifting once a week and can't get beyond the 200lb mark without losing form and feeling lower back strain:-/.

My training partner says my form is great at lower weights but I lose it as the weight goes up. I daren't try to lift more than 200 in case I cause a back injury.

To be fair, my form goes to **** when im near my max. I was in your shoes and dropped the weight and worked back up using strict form.

Then don't be lifting that heavily. Only lift what you can in good form; lower your weight to what you can perform flawlessly for a few sessions and slowly work your way back up.
    Keep on hulkin'.

I won't quit till no shirt will fit.
