Are "cliff bars" good protein bars?

i was just wondering, because i did buy a six pack of these.
i eat one before i work with weights, but am i making a mistake eating these?
if i am, whats something better? and plz if it has soy in it, dont tell me to buy it bc i heard that soy can lower testosterone.

Bars aren't generally cost effective, and don't taste very good. But if you like them, have at it.

The only thing to watch out for in bars is gelatin in the ingredients which some bars count toward their protein intake. A significant amount of gelatin would make it low quality protein, because gelatin is incomplete.

They do have soy protein in them. But the effects of estrogen from soy have been great greatly over exaggerated.
A lot depends on which version you bought. IMO the regular Cliff bars are low in protein, and too high in sugars and carbs to be considered a protein bar. The Cliff Builders bar is a better choice here, but still is comprised from soy proteins.
Soy protein is not bad, but not complete like a bar made from whey protein.
If you enjoy them, and they fit in your macros, eat them. However I would imagine that bars from Supreme will have a better combination of ingredients protein wise.

as a protein choice? no... i don't recall them having more than 10-15 grams. i could be wrong though.

for proteinz, meat and whey (if you must) are the best.

You'd be better off just eating real food. It is cheaper and you will see gains a lot faster. If you need bars though I recommend the OhYeah! bars. I just got them and I've tried lots of bars. Those bars are actually pretty decent. Almond Fudge Brownie.

Yep. About 10-11 grams. I enjoy them but not really a good pro source

Clif Builder's bars have 20 grams of protein and taste awesome IMO. It tastes better than a candy bar.

Chocolate Mint and Chocolate Peanut Butter are good.

There are much better and cheaper ways to get protein though.

Who did you "hear" it from? Do you think he can produce the science to back up his claims? Or do you think he probably "heard" it from someone else who "heard" it from someone else who doesn't know what they're talking about?
