    Smile Breast implants after pregnancy/childbirth

Hello Ladies! I was hoping to hear from some women who got breast implants and then went on to have more children. I'm considering implants/lift now because my breasts were pretty much ruined by my first pregnancy/nursing but I am only 25 and I want more children down the line. I don't know if I should wait until I'm finished having babies or go for them now so I can start enjoying them. I really do miss having nice breasts. I'd love to hear your thoughts and thank you for your time!

I understand the dilemma which is why I am going to wait. I would really hate to get that done and then have them altered again after another pregnancy/nursing. Mine didn't seem to change at all (although my stomach is a mess) but better safe than sorry for such a procedure. I am also concerned whether it would affect nursing. Would love to hear from those with experience.

I elected to do it before having children. Just do your research. It does not have to affect your ability to breast feed. I know several ladies that have breast fed after surgery. Most had breast fed prior and already new they could. If you decide to do it you'll have to be aware of the fact that your results could be affected by a pregnancy and breastfeeding. As I had nothing to start with, I'm not worried about a little sag post baby. It will help me look more natural. Just do your research!

My personal choice would be to wait until I am through havign children. I understand the desire for them, having had one baby myself. But, I would worry about my ability to nurse, as several of my friedns who have had augmentations have not been able to nurse. It may not have a correlation, but I would rather be safe than sorry. Additionally, I would think every pregnancy would change my body and I'd rather wait until I am through to do something as drastic as having surgery. Just my two cents!

I didn't get mine until after I was done having kids and nursing, but a very good friend of mine got hers before she had her 2 kids. She had no problems nursing both of them. She did say that her breasts definitely aren't as perky after nursing, despite the implants. But the change wasn't enough to require a re-do. If you want to nurse after implants, the incision location will make a difference. My friend had a crease incision, which I think is better if you want to try and nurse later. Check with your surgeon.

Keep in mind though that implants aren't forever. Regardless of when you decide to have them done (before or after kids), you'll need to plan on having them replaced every 10+ years or so. My surgeon said to plan on the 10-year mark for replacements, but I do think you could go longer than that. But still, they won't last forever. So if you do decided to get them now, and then go on to have other kids, you'll still be looking at another surgery or two in your future, regardless of what pregnancy and breastfeeding does to them.
    I hate qualifiers.

I had breast augmentation surgery in my early 20s and went on to have two children, both of whom I breastfed. I’d read about breast implants placed under the muscle allowing patients to breast feed naturally so I did some research and went to Dr. Studin who pioneered the procedure. Naturally, some women are unable to breastfeed so you should keep that in mind as well. It may be your body and not the implants that keep you from breastfeeding. I had very minimal trouble and have nursed and taken care of my children just fine with the implants. You should visit Dr. Studin’s website for more information
