    Toe pain when doing lunges

    Hi everyone,

I want to do lunges however I have a problem. When I do a right-side lunge, I feel a small pain in my right foot's big toe. What should I do? I stopped doing lunges, but still I'd like to be able to perform them. Is there a way to make the big toe pain go away? I've noticed that I feel less pain if my shoes are stiffer, should I try to do lunges in stiffer shoes instead?

    Thanks

Rest will allow it to heal and the pain disappear...
Bodybuilding is 60% training and 50% diet. Yes that adds up to 110%, because that's what you should be giving it. Change the inside, and the physique will follow.

Have you tried the opposite by doing them without shoes?

Are you sure your toe is not broken? Sometimes those suckers can break...and you not even know it. Can always go to the doctors...or tape it to the next toe over, see if that helps. Pushing yourself through an injury, is not always the smartest thing to do. Not saying you're doing that (deliberately at least)...just saying.

This is a possibility, also it could be an ingrown toenail. I have had several ingrown toenails, and they hurt when my toe was used.

Oh geesh, you're right! Totally forgot about that as a possibility...and I've had them. They actually hurt 10 x worse than a broken toe. Ya, ingrown toenail could certainly be the culprit.
