I'm just completely lost. I just want to gain muscle. I've given everything I had - dedicated my whole life to bodybuilding (I don't have any friends anymore) only to gain 10 pounds in 1 year.. please help me out guys! I'm looking to build some muscle, not strength. Naturally, no steroids. I've always heard that ectomorphs should focus on big compound movements with low sets and low rep range (4-8 sets per muscle group, with 5-7 reps). So thath's what I've done. And ate alot. Always trained with high intensity. I've eaten according to caloric surplus. Taken dextrose and hydrolyzed whey after every workout. Eaten quick carbs in the morning. Eaten glutamine and casein before bedtime. Never missed a meal. Always kept a workout logbook and always tried to increase poundage to get stronger. So I pretty much have done everything that should be done to gain significant muscle.. But not for me! So, to gain muscle, I've tried to change things up for more volume but that hasn't been succesful for me. So, is it really best for an ectomorph to always do low rep and sets? Should an also ectomorph change to high volume training when trying add muscle, not strength, or should he always do low reps with high intensity? Now, this brings me to my real question and the point of this topic: Like I said I'm looking to gain muscle ONLY. I just need a good program guys cause all I've tried have failed. I've heard that ppl have gotten great (muscle gain above all) results with the supplements Jack3d and Scivation Xtend so I'm thinking that should I go for a high volume routine again but this time with these popular supplements. I use whey, glutamine, creatine, BCAA's, pre-workout boosters, dextrose (post-workout), ZMA etc. Are supplements really a big scam since I've gained almost nothing? So, anyway, as you can see I havent done things wrong outside of the gym, I feel it's my workout program that's holding me back. The Problem is since I've never gotten good gains with any hi-volume muscle-gain program, can somebody suggest one effective program to me? I don't really know any good high volume workout programs, so can somebody give me a hint on how to actually gain some F'in muscle (3 sets, 12-15 sets to failure, should i include dropsets? I'm just totally lost.)?
Thank you for your time

your diet has to be in check man. if not everything else is worthless. trust me i know.
i'd try to do 4k calories everyday, and never miss a meal. u will put on some fat, but that's what happens when you bulk.“THERE IS NO REASON TO CREEP ON ONE GIRL YOU GUYS! If you’re talking to 20, you’re getting dates from 12-15, you’re getting laid from 4-5! If you creep on ONE, you’re getting ZERO dates, ZERO sex, and ZERO confidence/practice. **** that route”.

Bro this is what happened when I bulked too much: At one point I increased 20 pounds in 8 weeks (most was fat) by eating everything in sight and til I felt absolutely sick. In the end I was obese (level 1). Then what happened when I cut it away I looked just as skinny as b4. No lie.
Anyone please give me advice on how to gain primarly muscle?

Yes I have eating under control nowadays. I eat same thing every day. Right now I eat 200 kcal - 500kcal surplus to maintenance, and I increase it by 200kcal every 2 weeks. Ratio is 45:35:20. (carbs being 45.)
So, again, can you recommend a good hhigh volume muscle gainer routine? Or should ectomorhps always train the same way?Last edited by atibingler; 08-16-2011 at 11:49 AM.
