Question What happens when you stop working out after getting big?

Just as the title says. What happens to your muscles when you stop working out after bodybuilding for a long time? I've heard people tell me that you would get very weak after a week of no-workout and all the*hard work*would be gone as fat.

You would lose muscle mass, but muscle CANNOT be converted to fat. As for getting very weak after one week, that's ridiculous, some people take an entire week off when they deload.

Why would muscle become fat? Your body would have to undergo some really weird physiological conditions for anything like this to happen. Muscle uses a lot of energy and your body will go into atrophy once stimulus ceases. If you continue to eat like a glutton, then yes the extra energy from the consumed food will become fat.

Whoever told you about it happening after 1 week must have been seriously Ill or something. If I take a week off I usually come back stronger. Some people like to do a "deload" and lift light for a week or just keep muscles in use. And as for the original question, yes you will lose muscle mass and strength unless you still eat healthy and lots. Why you need to stop working out? You will lose muscle though even if you eat.

I just heard a famous quote, "one week without excersice leaves the body weak" ...... The only reason I would stop is because I'd be super busy with exams and study in my final years of university where I need to spend every living moment studying. Or travel
